New Camera Bag for 70-200 mm f/2.8 L IS USM + 40D?
bag.

Hi,

I just bought the 70-200 mm f/2.8 L IS USM and am shooting with a Canon 40D. The camera no longer fits in the bag I've been using while the lens is attached (it's too long).

I need another bag but it can't be a full backpack because of the type of Camelbak I wear. It will need something I can wear on my shoulder/on my side.

I'm looking at the Lowepro Top Loader 70 AW and some side bags for additional lenses.

My full gear list will include:
Canon 40D
Canon 28-135 mm f/3.5 - f/5.6 IS USM
Sigma 10-20 mm f/4 - f/5.6
Some extra batteries and memory cards

Does anyone have any suggestions other than the Lowepro Toploader? It would be nice to not have to buy side bags for my additional lenses but it looks like it's going to be the case here.
Hi Chris, thanks for you answer. I actually have the Slingshot to carry all of my gear. The problem is that when I have my Camelbak Trail Blazer on, it already takes up all the room on my back. I like the LowePro Top Loader 70 AW because it has a strap I can just wear over my shoulder. I'm looking for something similar to that.

I have a Lowpro Toploader 70, it's designed more for a full sized camera like a Canon 1D, a Nikon D2X or something with an added battery pack, vertical grip. Your 40D would be swimming in it, and it's not deep enough to accommodate your camera with the attached lense. Nor would you be able to fit your other two lens's in it.

At the risk of sounding like a Think Tank, fanboy, their Digital Holster, the 20 or 30 would work great for you. But it will still not hold your other lens.

I have 2 of the 20's,(for my 30D, and 5D) and like them very much, but the 30 looks like it would protect your lens better, (note to self, get a 30!)

How could I possibly protect my Canon EOS 40D DSLR camera from water splash while on a boat trip?
My Canon lens

I am planning to spend my holidays in the Philippines and spend some time island hopping in Palawan (Honda Bay Island). They said the boat ride usually takes more than an hour and could be sometimes rough. I was just wondering If there are waterproof camera bags I could buy to protect my camera in case of a water splash, or worst camera falling into the water (hopefully shallow water). Could you suggest anything, please.

The bags I use from Tamrac are water proof but, if you have invested some big bucks into your camera the best is a hard case from Pelican. Pelican cases are lockable, airline approved and floats (if the boat sinks), I use mine on open water, a brite yellow one (something I'll find in the dark).

As Ace said, depending on where you live, it may not be necessary, but it sure can't hurt anything either. Even in a normally dry climate, if you take the camera out on a rainy or cold day, then return to a warm house, there can be condensation, and it can occur where you don't see it. So there is certainly no harm in keeping the packets in your bag for reassurance.

For Canon 40D + 18-55 lens - Crumpler 3 Million or 4 Million bag?
IMG_3364

Any idea whether I should buy a 3 Million Dollar home or the 4 Million Dollar home camera bag? I don't want any room for extra lens, but I want to be able to get the camera in/out easily.

Thanks.

I have a 3 million, and it hold a 10D+17-85 just fine, or a Nikon D80+18-200. It fits in without having to force it, there is adequate room between the camera and bag.

On a side note, if your 18-55 is the f/3.5-5.6 lens, then upgrade that! I have used many cameras and many lenses, and that is one of the worst lenses I have had the displeasure of using. If it is the f/2.8, then more power to you. It is not worth it to get such a good camera body, and then waste all of that capability by crippling it with a poor lens. I would recommend the 17-40 f/4 as a walkaround lens that doesn't cost too much, while delivering great quality. Or, get the 17-85 USM, if you don't mind variable aperture.

Are Cannon FD series SLR linses compatible w/ Cannon EOS 40D digital slr Camera body?

I found the following used for sale: Canon A-1 body 35mm SLR camera, Canon lens FD 24 mm f/1:2.8 wide angel, Canon lens FD 50 mm f/1:1.8 w/skylight filter, Canon lens FD 50 mm f/3.5 S.S.C. Macro w/skylight filter and Canon life size adapter w/cases, Canon lens FD 28-55mm f/1:3.5-4.5 Macro “rare lens” w/uv haze-1 filter, Canon lens FD 70-210 mm f/1:4 Macro w/ skylight filter & case, Canon A power winder, Canon A 2 power winder w/case, Tokina 2x converter has seven elements w/case, Canon 299 T speedlite flash, Canon 155 A speedlite flash w/case, Canon camera case (not shown in pictures), Marsand large leather camera bag, Hot shoe/ handle.
And two lens hoods. All the above lenses will fit the follow Canon body’s (F-1, A-1, AE-1, T70, etc.) and have a substantial, solid feel (which is lacking in today’s autofocus lenses!!!). Lenses had filters added at the time of purchase so the glass is perfect & the coatings brilliant!!! All the lenses have a buttery smooth focus, and the diaphragm ac

You can use FD lenses on the EOS series of bodies with an adapter, but keep in mind:

-They'll be manual focus only.
-You'll have to change the f-stops manually.
-The camera's light meter can be thrown off.
-You won't be able to use program/auto or shutter priority modes; you'll have to use aperture priority or completely manual settings.

One version of the FD-to-EOS adapter is here:
