I just purchased a used Canon Eos Rebel S II 35 mm and I need to get the battery for it. It says it is a 6V 1300mAh. Should I go to a particular store to get it, or order it offline? I don't have the camera yet, so I do not know what the battery is supposed to look like. Where would you purchase it?
Thanks!
Its better to go to the official Canon store to be on the safe side. Ask them whether it's the correct battery for the Eos Rebel S II 35mm

I will be getting a digital camera soon and wondered it it's better to get one that comes with it's own rechareable battery or to pick one that uses AA's. I will be usuing the camera on a daily basis most likely and really don't want to be worried about suddenly having dead batteries. Are there certain camera's that eat batteries that I should stay away from (including the ones that come with their own)
Li-ion batteries are the state of the art battery used in digital camera's
The hold a charge longer and can last over five years if properly used.
These are the batteries used by the professional DSLR's and most of the entry level DSLR's. They have a solid track record.
While there is the thought that buying a camera that can use AA batteries is convenient, the number of shots per set is dismally low. Just read some of the questions here on batteries and you will see. Most P&S camera using a Li-ion battery can get over 250 pictures per charge. My D300 can get over 1000 per charge.
Battery life on digitral cameras is measured in number of shots per charge, not in miniutes or hours. Your camera should not be turned on for more than a miniute or so ... just long enough to get a few shots and then it needs to be turned off.

Allows hundreds of images to be shot before the battery needs to be recharged
I am planning a 6 day camping trip, but my camera battery will only last about 1 day. I could buy 6 batteries but that would cost hundreds!
I do have a battery charger (plugs into a wall outlet)... does anyone know of a small generator or maybe a battery that gives power to an AC outlet that I could take along? It wouldn't take much power to charge my battery, I just need a way to do it from the top of a mountain.
No cars.. this is the top of a mountain!
I use a small solar panel to recharge my SLA's that I use for my backpack ham radio station.
The panel is from Volkswagen! They ship cars with a solar panel to keep the batteries alive in transit and storage. Then the dealer pulls out the panels and can sell them or return them to Volkswagen. They end up on eBay for about $15.00 each.

It's been less than a year since I received the camera as a gift & recently I'm unable 2 recharge the battery. I am really upset as none of the stores carry this type of battery. It is for a Casio Exilim Z60 camera. I have even checked the website/ and manual for troubleshooting. When I plug the battery in the light blinks red. It is supposed to stay red and then turn green once charged. Any suggestions? I have kids and I dont go anywhere without the camera.
My battery is definitely a dead one.
Usually Li-ion batteries last for years. I have a set in my Nikon D100 that are just reaching the five year mark and an older Nikon Coolpix that is nearly six years old and still using the original Li-ion batteries.
I just make sure they are charged before I go out shooting and don't leave then drained for very long.
My battery chargers both blink (one red and the other amber) until the batteries are charged. I have a quick charger on mine and it takes up to four hours to fully charged if I have run them down to zero..
You may have to buy a new battery from Casio or look at one of the "battery" stores near you to replace it.
My camera battery takes 100 minutes to charge. I charged it over night and when I went to use my camera the next day the low battery symbol started blinking after 2 pictures. Could it be because I charged the battery too long - and it drained it?
I just got this camera, battery, and charger at Christmas time. They are all Nikon products and I paid good money for them.
Not if you are using a genuine battery and an original charger. If you are using a third party "compatible" battery and/or third party charger - anything can happen. Both original camera batteries and chargers have circuitry inside to prevent overcharging. When the charger senses that battery is full, it switches to trickle charging mode, when battery is getting just a little amount of charge routed to it, which helps it stay fully charged and ready to go, but won't harm the battery... So it is perfectly safe to keep the battery in charger for as long as you wish. Many photographers have an extra battery that always sits in a charger, when battery in camera needs replacement, they just switch them.
A poorly made battery may fail to properly communicate to the charger that it's full, and a cheap non-genuine charger may not be able to interpret the message from the battery (so to speak), and again, overcharge...
This is why it's important to use genuine batteries and chargers, there's a reason why they cost more - of course you're paying a little "brand name" premium, but you're also paying for the electronics inside. If your battery and charger were original ones - then you may have a case for warranty service of either camera, battery or charger, because this should not have happened!
