Need a remote control for a Canon Digital Rebel SLR Camera. Too many, which should I get? Is generic ok?
My new Hammer "Arson" bowling ball

I'm purchasing a remote control for my boyfriends, Digital SLR Canon Rebel Camera. Looking online I've come across different models from Canon, and generic remotes that can be used for different makes of camera? If someone happens to have this camera or just knows about SLR's in general, please give me an idea of what I need to get. I'm oping to purchase off ebay, it's usually cheapest. Thanks.

you get what you pay for !
a generic one might have to be programmed to work on the camera.

How do I upload pictures from my Canon Digital Rebel camera?
IMG_2144

Hi,

I have an OLD model of the Canon Digital Rebel and need to upload the photos to my laptop.
I don't have any of the discs that would have come with the camera.

Not sure if it matters, but I am currently using XP on my computer.
Help!
Thanks!

The camera should have come with a USB cable. When you plug in the camera and turn it on, XP should search for drivers. The CDs are unnecessary because IF you require the drivers you can download them directly from Canon's website. After the camera is recognized and drivers installed, simply right click on Start in Windows, navigate to My Computer > Canon Camera (or whatever they name your memory card in explorer) and open that folder. Then select the images on the card and drag them to any folder on your C: drive. Once you are SURE SURE SURE the images are in fact on the computer's hard drive, reselect the images on the card and delete them so it's clean for the next shoot.
There are SEVERAL ways to get images off the computer, it's really a matter of preference. You can also buy a flash card reader for $30 and plug THAT into a USB slot on the computer instead.

How is this camera: Canon Digital Rebel XTi 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm Lens?
IMG_4131

Could yous please give me your opinion on this camera and what the average price this camera is. Also, is the next step up from this camera the 20d? If no, what is? If yes, would it be worth my money to pay a couple hundred more (if that's an accurate price increase) for the 20d? I will be using the camera for professional quality photos and hopefully to supplement my income in the future.
Thanks for your help!

This is a fine camera. It will run about $700.00. The next step up is the XSI and this will run about $900.00. The 20D has been discontinued but you can still find some new ones if you look around. If you are just starting out and money is a concern I would get the XTI and invest any extra money in a better lens. Unless you are prepared to spend $5,000.00 and get a camera with a full size image sensor it wont make any difference which DSLR you have. The lenses can make a big difference though.

Can you use lenses from a Canon 35mm film camera on a digital canon rebel xti? Are they compatible?
IMG_6121

I have a couple of lenses from my Canon 35mm camera and have now purchased a new digital Canon rebel xti. Can I use the lenses from my old 35mm on a digital rebel xti?

It depends on what "35mm film camera" you have. If you have an old Canon FD-mount camera (which means Canon's manual focus cameras made before the 90s) you'll need an adapter:
http://search.ebay.com/canon-fd-to-ef_W0 QQfsopZ32

If you have an EOS 35mm camera with EF-mount lenses then they should mount and work exactly like they're suppose to.

In any case, since the sensor of the XTi is smaller than a frame of film, there's a 1.6x crop factor that you have to take into account. A 28-80mm lens would be equivalent to a 44.8-128mm lens on the XTi.

Sigma 35mm SLR compatible with Canon Digital Rebel camera?
IMG_3929

Hi
I have the Sigma UC Zoom 28-105mm F4-5.6 for 35mm SLR.
Will it be compatible to work on my new Canon Rebel XSI (450D) dSLR camera?

Thanks!
The older 35mm SLR is a Sigma SA300

Where on the camera or lens is the mount types written?

If memory serves, Sigma, like most manufacturers, uses a proprietary lens mount which is not compatible with any other lens mount. Just as you cannot use a Canon lens on a Nikon or a Nikon lens on an Olympus, you can't use a Sigma bayonet mount lens designed for their SLR cameras on any other camera.

Sigma does, of course, manufacture lenses in mounts for Sony, Canon and Nikon.
