Camera Strap Canon

I usually don't wear my camera strap around my neck. Usually just hang the camera off of my shoulder, but from time to time I hang it from my neck. Recently I started doing this more, and I've developed a rash or something on my neck. Never happened with any other camera strap before. This has also happened to a couple of my friends, so I was wondering if it's some kinda weird manufacturing thing that causes this.

I just bought the Canon A2000-IS digital camera and the instructions to attach the wrist strap are vague. It looks like the nylon cord of the strap goes through two little holes in the side of the camera which is practically impossible unless two little screws are unscrewed on the camera and you thread the little cord somehow in there. Any ideas? The canon site didn't seem to clarify this as far as I could see.

Perhaps a toothpick would be helpful in pushing the loop through, or grabbing a hold of it as it goes through.

The safest way would be to take everything into a camera store and have them do it for you. They do this all the time for demo cameras.
