I want to buy the right memory card for my canon SD890 IS 10 megapixel camera?
Canon Ixus 900TI

I just bought a Canon 10 megapixel camera and i want to know which memory card will give me the best results. I have a 1gb and a 2.0 gb. Does it really matter? or is there one even better than this. That will accommodate my 10 megapixel camera.

It doesn't really matter what capacity card you have, as long as it's enough capacity for your needs. Cards are very cheap these days, so you can buy several if you need to.
What matters most though, is that you use a fairly high speed card, because your camera (even though it's only compact) really does take advantage of a fast SD card.
So, if you're not using one already, I would recommend the very popular, Sandisk Extreme III or similarly fast card.

Why does my 10 megapixel camera let me crop closer and with better clarity than my new 12.1 megapixel camera?

I have a 10 megapixel Canon Powershot Pro1 that I love but which is sometimes to big to easily carry with me. I thought that if I bought the new Sony DSC-W200 with it's 12.1 megapixels, I'd get the same (or better) ability to zoom and crop my pictures (zoom using software/Picasa not the camera zoom). When I compare the two I find that I am able to zoom further in and get much better clarity when zoomed in on pictures taken with the 10 megapixel Canon Powershot Pro1 than when I do this with pictures from my new 12.1 Sony DSC-W200. I've tried to select similiar picture types (in the sun by the water) with similiar focal lengths, but when I zoom in to 100% with the Canon Pro1 I can get much closer to the subject that I can with the Sony. The clarity is also much better on the Canon when zoomed close. What other factors do I need to be considering when looking to get the best ability to crop in close to the pictures subject with greatest clarity?

Two possible reasons:

1) Think of each photo diode in the sensor as a square (container with diode wiring etc) with a circle in it (the actual photo diode). Now as we pack more of these into the same space, we have to make them smaller, this means we have to make the actual circles smaller, and so they miss more light resulting is a poorer quality image.

2) As sensors deliver more pixels, they sometimes use more jpeg compression so that the resulting file size doesn't blow out. To see if this is your problem, try shooting in RAW mode and see if there's much difference. (If your camera supports this)

Is there any difference between a 2008 Canon Rebel XTi 10.1 megapixel camera and one I'd buy new today?

A friend has offered to sell me his 2008, and I want to know if I'm getting a good deal...

Yes. One is two years old, used and has no warranty. The new one might have newer firmware and perhaps some minor modifications but not likely anything significant. Usually major changes and modifications get a new model number assigned.

I dont mind buying used equipment but I do it for one of two reasons

1. The equipment I want is no longer available new
2. Im getting a FANTASTIC cost savings in case the used one needs some repair soon.

What do you think about this camera? Canon - PowerShot 10.0-Megapixel Digital ELPH Camera - Silver?

I'm thinking of buying this camera today but i would like to read others opinions on it.

I have a similar Camera (not exactly that model, but it's a Canon Digital Elph) and I love it. I found it simple and easy to use for the basic uses, and I discovered it has tons of other great features. The image quality is great, I LOVE how the photos come out. Highly recommend. I've always said that when my camera dies, I'm getting another Canon Powershot, they're easily the best cameras out there

Nikon Coolpix S60 10.0 Megapixel Digital Camera or Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS 10.0 Megapixel Digital Camera?

Which one of these 2 cameras is better? I am looking for a camera that is good for taking clear pictures.

Neither of these. A good choice is the Casio Exilim EX-S10, which is a 10.1MP camera and is capable of doing just as good of a job with clear pictures and video.
