Canon 350d Digital Camera

i am planning to take some commercial shots (a company project) using my canon 350D camera but i am suspecting the maximum picture resolution i can get from this camera, even after choosing raw instead of jpeg as output format, may not satisfy the printing requirements for big commercial posters (eg. 32*32 inches). as far as i know, the highest resolution it can achieve is 3456X2304 pixel. to print a 32*32 inches poster with 300 dpi, what's the least resolution a digital picture has to have? do i need to upgrade my camera to full-frame ones like 5D or 1D?
also, i know the lens plays a key role here too. i have 50mm f1.4 and 24-70mm f2.8. do i need extra lens to the job?
your help is much appreciated.

Well there is quite a dependance on the printers definition of DPI, usually at least three dots make up one pixel's width, but this varies between printers and technologies.

So a conservative estimate would result in an image resolution of 100 ppi, or 3200 pixels per side of the image. Because it's a square image your sensor doesn't quite have the number of pixels to manage, at 2304 on the shortest side. But if you were to print on a 4 dots per pixel printer the sensor in your 350D would be enough.

So I'll sum up in this way...if you want an excuse to upgrade your camera go ahead, but if you want to you probably could get away with the sensor in the 350D.

If you're talking about simple slave flash I use two of them. They don't use infra red though - they're tripped off the on board flash on my
Rebel XS and they work just fine. Actually I wouldn't see a need for an infra red trigger unless you're shooting with a slave off camera and not using your on board or external flash. That's a neat approach and

Yes, it will work perfectly. Just keep in mind that with the 1.6 crop factor of the 350D sensor, the lens will effectively be 44.8-144mm.

Current thoughts are Sigma 18-50 f2.8 EX DC or Tamron 28-75 f2.8 XR Di but would like some advice from anyone that has used these lenses or similar. Most photography will be outdoors.
