Canon 400d Camera

I was thinking about buying Canon 400D(Rebel XTi) from US.can anybody please tell me the difference between these two different versions of cameras?do they use same battery?do i have to but new charger/battery in Australia?

To combat the "gray market" Canon names their cameras for sale in different geographic areas.

Canon EOS 400D - Europe, Asia, Elsewhere

Canon Digital Rebel XTi - North America

Canon EOS KISS Digital X - Japan

Each geographic area has an Authorized Licensed Importer and the price they pay for the cameras and lenses helps support Authorized Service Centers. Unfortunately, there is no law that prevents an importer from buying a Canon camera or lens in a country with a favorable exchange rate and re-selling it at a lower price in the country where they are based. In other words, if the camera you want is cheaper in the USA than in Australia, an Australian importer might buy cameras in the USA, import them to Australia, and sell them cheaper than the Authorized Licensed Importer.

Sounds like a good deal for the consumer, doesn't it? Well it isn't because there will be no warranty coverage for the camera. The Canon Authorized Service centers will not work on this "gray market" camera even if you offer to pay. Need service? Send it back to the USA.

Its your decision to make.

I want to purchase studio lights on-line and would like to know which ones I can use with my 400D canon camera.

Light is light. And a many cameras will do the same thing with that light, capture it.

What you need to look for is whats the color temperature of the studio lights. You'll want close to 5600 kelvin. 3000 kelvin is pretty red, 6000 + is in the blue range.

If your planning on using an adapter and PC cable to trigger the flashes make sure that the trigger voltage coming from the strobes dont exceed 6 volts. If it does, you will need a safe sync.

Other than that, power is the biggest thing. A 430EX Canon speedlite is roughly the same as some 100 watt second lights. So if your seeing "pro studio strobes" that are only 45 w/s, then thats just not that powerful.

I have a Canon 400D Camera and everytime I take pictures I always get a dark pictures why is that?
Do you think that the lens that I use might be a cause of my problem as well, as I am using the original lens, do I need a specific type of lens to take photos indoors? and if yes, which one do you recommend that will fit for most of the circumestances.

Time to sit down and READ & STUDY the Owner's Manual for your camera. That is how you learn to actually use your camera.

Hi, Really new to photography... Im looking at a lense on trademe (ebay) and it says it will fit "ANY DIGITAL CAMERA that has 43mm, 46mm 52mm, 55mm or 58mm Filter thread ". I have a canon 400d, but not sure how to find out what filter thread i have. Is it standard... i think mine might be 55? Any information would be great, Thanks :)

Depends on the lens. Look in the front and see this Ø next to it.

For example, the kit lens needs 58 mm filter.

Hello, I am in a bit of a dilemna and I really need a quick fix.... if possible. I have a shoot coming up and I have only just bought my first digital SLR camera... I would like to mainly focus on dancers and athletes (eg when they are jumping running etc) but I havent quite mastered the blur aspect......Any help at all would be fantastic! Thanks so much :)

Ok, set the lens to AF, set the focus select to centre spot only, set the af mode to Ai Servo.

Set the ISO to 400. Shoot in RAW mode.

Set the camera dial to Tv mode, set a slowish to medium shutter, say 1/30th or 1/60th, set the drive mode to continuous, track the subject by panning the camera to follow them. Take successions of shots as you pan.

If you want to freeze the motion then set a higher (faster) shutter number like 1/250th.
