SD card for Canon Elph digital camera?
Beautiful Pink 1963 Cadillac Coupe deville South Beach

I need to buy an SD card for a Canon Elph camera as a xmas gift. Do I have to specifically get a Canon card? I saw some SD cards in a store's flyer that are a generic brand. Do all cards fit and work in all cameras? Thanks!

You can get any SD card. The brand name of the SD doesn't really matter. Matter of fact there SDHC memory cards today. These are SD high capacity memory card. You Canon Elph can use both SD or SDHC memory card regardless of their brand name or manufacturer.

what's the difference between canon ELPH digital cameras and canon A-Series digital cameras?
MIchael Jackson Beat It Jacket

I want to get a canon, but I don't understand the differences between these 2 series of canon cameras.

-- Also another question i have is...
Do the canon digital cameras do a beauty shot (make your face look flawless and pretty) type thing like the samsung cameras do?
help would be really appreciated :) thanks!

The Canon website supplies a lot of specs and information about their cameras, and even a comparison function. It is best if you go study them on there.

As to the "beauty shot", my advice is the same as for any and all effects done in-camera:

DON'T DO IT !!!

Imagine if you just happen to take the best photo you ever took - surely you would want to have it in all its glory, right?

Always set your camera to biggest size, best quality (and to color).

That way, you start with the best possible photo as your original.

Then you make a copy and edit it to your heart's content.
You have much better control over any editing on your computer, even something as simple as b&w will look MUCH better when it was processed properly instead of in camera.
You can do all sorts of things to it PLUS you get to keep your original.

How do I change settings on my Canon Powershot SD300 digital elph camera?
Katy Perry Dress

I developed a few pictures recently, and I noticed that they were pretty dull, especially when compared to pics taken by other digital cameras (Sony brands). I don't have my instruction manual anymore so I was wondering if anyone knows what settings to change on the camera so the pics will be vibrant and brighter? Thanks!

Here you can download the manual

Which canon powershot elph digital camera is the best to purchase?
"I Eat Your Photos For Breakfast"

I agree with Petra. I own and love the SD900. I might be as happy with the new SD850-IS. It's a smaller sensor, but the "IS" is a valid feature that really helps.

I think the SD900 is still the tops. It has 10 MP and it's the only SD that has the larger 1/1.8" sensor, which is nearly twice as big as the sensor in any of the other SD cameras. This generally translates into better image quality with lower noise. It's the one that I bought as my own personal pocket camera.

Here are a couple of reviews for the SD900:

http://web1.popphoto.com/cameras/3468/te st-canon-powershot-sd900-digital-elph.ht ml

Be sure to note that the reviews are many pages long so you don't stop after page one. Check the sample images, also. You can enlarge these to full size images if you click on the link below the picture. You will have to then put your cursor in the white space to the right of the picture and click once. After that, you can pass your cursor over the image and it will turn into a magnifier. Click it as a magnifier once and the image will go to full size and you can really examine the detail or look for artifacts like fringing or noise.

Here is one photo I put on-line that I took with the SD900. Click on "All Sizes" and view this as large as possible and check out the birds. (They are NOT digital noise!) Look at the tips of the branches of the trees to evaluate sharpness. This was taken right after sunset and there were no enhancements in afterprocessing. http://www.flickr.com/photos/7189769@N04 /409551806/

Here's another photo with no post-processing at all. It was taken at the full 111 mm (equiv) zoom. It was taken in the fully automatic mode with no help from me at all. The horizon is crooked because the camera was resting on the top of my car. I did not want to alter anything, because this is part of a 3-image series comparing optical zoom with cropping to digital zoom. You can look at the other pictures while you are there and see why optical zoom is all that matters.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/7189769@N04 /459603923/

Compare the photos here BEFORE you read the whole description. Choose your preference and then read on to see which camera made which pictures. The SD700-IS has been replaced by the (better) SD850-IS.

I just bought a Canon digital camera sd600 elph what is the process of downloading photos to your computer?
My Powershot S410
