Which SLR is better: Canon EOS 10D or the Canon 300D?

I've been working with a film camera for years and now want to try digital. I can't buy the latest Canon out there, right now. Help?!

honestly, i'd go for a nikon D200 or D80. they're are better value. but if you really want a canon i'd go for the 300D

What is the cheaper alternative to the Canon EOS 20D SLR Digital Camera?

I've had the 10D recommended repeatedly but I see it is no longer available. The 20D runs $2000 with lens. I'd like to spend $800-$1100.
Can someone recommend an alternative to the 20D in that price range?

Thanks
Now I'm confused; This camera is almost $2000:

What on earth are you talking about?, the 20D was discontinued years ago and sells on eBay for about $500 or less!! (where on earth did you get the idea they are $2000??)

The alternative for your price range is the Canon 40D

Do not bother with the 10D, lovely cameras but difficult to find one these days with a low shutter count and they are incompatible with EF-S lenses.

Additional: That must be mistake, the price is completely wrong. I also notice that it is not Amazons price, it is 'Wall Street Photo's' price, selling through Amazon. You can buy a 50D and 70-200mm f/4 L lens for that price. Forget about the 20D completely, it is either a typo or they are trying to rip somebody off. look at the 40D or the 50D, the price the 40D is going for now is excellent, check out B&H for better prices (and 100% trustworthy)

Is this secondhand DSLR camera worth buying?

This is the seller's description.

"Canon EOS 10D Digital SLR
Current bid: $350.00
Megapixels: 6MP

I purchased this camera new in 2003 to travel around the world. It has been a great camera to own and use. The build quality is stunning being a huge step up over the plastic EOS 300D.

The shutter was replaced by Canon NZ after it failed in 2004 and I have had no problems with it since.

Included with the package is
- EOS 10D Camera
- Canon Software disk
- Neck Strap
- 2xBP511 Batteries
- 1xBP512 Battery (same capacity different shape)
- USB Cable
- RCA Cable
- Manuals
- Original Box
- 512mb compact flash card

The camera is in good condition."

A 10D is way too old to pay anything more than $100 for what's being offered - it doesn't even come with a lens. I wouldn't even pay $100 for it, that's the sort of thing that gets traded for an xbox or something. That isn't a package, it's what came with the camera. If you are flat broke and you absolutely need a camera, than sure go ahead. But if you can add another $300, you can get a camera that is far more advanced with double the resolution, with a lens.

P.S. My D80 isn't worth $350, and it's a better camera. A dealer offered me $270 for it, if I upgraded. Older digital technology isn't worth crap these days. Film cameras actually hold better value. So there you go.

    (continued again…)

So if there’s anyone who would seek my advise on what dslr to use as a newbee, i’d recommend the nikon d40 (that is according to my personal experience) after learning the ropes of photography, its your choice… i just happened to favor the 50d due to its fast shooting and 15.1mpx. its my taste.

    (continued)

now, deciding to up the ante, i’ll be owning a canon 50d bacause its a step above the nikon d40 i used. “why not the nikon d90″ you ask. its because i have chosen action photography as a specialization. according to my reseach, i concluded that the canon 50d fits me. i am no pro, but i’m getting there.
