Canon Professional Camera

i'm 15 and i want to be a photographer when i grow up
and for a present my parents said they would buy me a camera.

so i i know i definitely want a canon
but what size lens should i get?

Actually at the age of 15, I would recommend that you get a Canon XS DSLR.It is a( Digitial Single Lens Reflex ) camera and sales for $549.00 up to $599.00. This would be a good starter camera. After you become proficient in using it, you can slowly add different lens to obtain full use of the camera. Most low cost point and shoot cameras do not offer the option of taking pictures in B&W. You would have to convert those color pictures with the software provided with the camera. However, with the Canon you can set it to take B&W pictures. I used a 300mm lens on my Canon and obtained some very awesome pictures of the moon. Picture quality is great and the craters are in great detail. Canon has been my only choice in photography due to the quality of taking pictures with those cameras. The only real filters you should invest in will be (1) UV (ultra violet) filter (primarly to protect the lens. (2) Polarizer filter (to take pictures through glass and aquariums (keeps glass from glaring). Take a look at the following link of photos that I took using the Canon XS. Good luck.

My camera now is a ELAN 7 Rebel, from Canon. I don't want to sell it way for the prices people are paying for her! I'd like to know if there's anyway to install a CCD or SCCD from any old 3 or 4 MPx camera that haven't all the capabilities my Canon has!

You can use your old lenses though.

i really want a professional camera for christmas. yes, by professional i mean tho big fat ones =] but i don't know which one to ask for. a canon or nikon? i'm thinking which is cheaper but still has great quality. help!

Those "big fat" professional cameras are called DSLRs. Both of them are really good brands. Just buy the one that you like, not the one that someone else likes.
Btw, cameras from both brands from the same level should be around the same price. (an example would be the Canon Rebel XS and Nikon D300. they're both entry level DSLRs and around the same price)

I would like a camera by canon, Ones that take good pictures for say photography? Im in a class for it at school.

In the old days it was the F-1. Then it was the eos-1v (film camera). But I'm assuming you want a digital SLR (DSLR)

There is no professional camera/DSLR for under $1000. However there are very good consumer level cameras for that price. Maybe you should just go to the canon website and look for the most expensive one under $1000. Although a $600 one would also take good pictures (it's probably better to buy one of those, that way you'll have money left over for a good lens)

I'm trying to save up for a good camera and the one I'm interested in is a Canon EOS 5, I'm not a professional but I love photography and I plan to study it someday!

Is there any other Canon camera which is better then the EOS 5?
