Where can I find free digital photgraphy backgrounds to use with Photoshop programs?

I just learned how to change a background in an image and I would like to practice with some family photos. Im looking for backgrounds that I can download for free. Such as the ones a studio would have for holidays, babies and so on..any help is appreciated. I have searched online until im sick of looking.

The one site that I always use is http://www.sxc.hu
The reason for this is that there are tons of photographed backgrounds on the site and they are royalty free, so you can use them without getting permission. Hope this helps.

how can i get my photgraphy company off the ground?

I live in jupiter, fl. And me and my partner are doing some little parties and things. We want to get into weddings, family, ect...
How could we go about getting noticed?

First create a simple website that describes your work and shows pictures of past projects. Use social networking methods to inform your intending audience you exist. Try performing really good projects once you have them, this is what people talk about and ultimately get you other clients. And work hard until you accomplish that dream. Oh, and always think big! Don't think about weddings, parties, etc. Think in professional photograph for corporations and agencies. Well, hope this advice helps a bit.

What do I do with my life?

I'm 17 and I still have no idea what I want to do. So many things cross my mind, but theres really nothing that I'd want to make a career out of. I really would like a job that pays well, because I'd like to have a family, and I want to be able to support them. I like photgraphy, cooking, planning, decorating, helping people, art, make-up, video games, reading. Do you have any advice on how I could find out what my true calling is?
Oh, I do plan to go to college. JC for two years then I'll transfer to a a 4 year that will best suit my interests, which I need to find out. And I'm also and ace in french, thats another thing I really like.

I would just relax and take your time. Your true calling will eventually reveal itself to you, and it is more likely that it will happen gradually in various steps and stages rather than a sudden epiphany. If you do things that interest you it is very likely you will end up in a career that interests you. This goes for selecting a college major as well--don't focus too hard on studying something that you think will lead to a career, just study what you want to learn about.

I studied Latin and Greek in college--not all that practical, but it was what I was interested in. I also took a lot of classes that involved writing. Long story short I discovered that I really enjoyed writing and language, particularly how one word can have many different meanings depending on how it is used. This led to my decision to go to law school (lawyers write a lot and tend to argue about the meanings of particular words used in laws). I'm now a lawyer and very happy with my job. But, the idea of becoming a lawyer did occur to me when I was 17. I think I thought that my career would involve me wearing a white lab coat and looking through test tubes all day.

Don't stress, keep doing what you love, and remember that the most important thing you learn in college is how to think.

Amateur photgraphy......... pics looks!?

I started photography last year, and just got a new very nice camera from my fiance. I would love to try and sell some of my work, and take pictures of others. My question is, do I have what it takes? I would obviously not charge a lot. What do you think of my recent pictures? With people and objects? I have done bridals, and pregnancy shots, family and a lot of just things that I like. What can I do to improve?

I will show my people photos first,,,,, these are of my sisters, neices, friends, nephews, and family.

Yea I have a cannon SX10, super nice! Lol

Well, I just finished my second year of college as a photography major. I still have one more year and personally, i think you have the right ideas with your photos. There are little things you need to tweak, but they are good. Depending on the camera you have, it gives you the quality you need. You said that your fiance gave you a nice one but it depends on what nice is....Did you get a point and shoot (a small digital camera) or did you get a nice Nikon or a Canon camera with changable lenses and zoom and focus on the outside lens?
I have a nikon D40, it is a VERY nice camera and i suggest if you dont have a canon or a nikon NICE bulky camera because those are the ones that give you the best results.
Anyways, sorry for rambling, now to your pictures, I love the one with the little girl laying in the grass with the flower, composition is good, but maybe its the screen, maybe not, but it looks kind of out of focus. Just make sure if you dont have the flash on (Auto) then you stay very still or get a tripod. There are a few i noticed, like the ones with couples and the little girl in the cheerleader outfit against the brick wall and then the one with the feet...You have the right idea, like i said, but you need to understand the Rule of Thirds. Its where you set the subject of the picture not in the center and make the background as interesting as the subject, yet not let it be distracting. You also need to know how to crop the picture well. With the picture of the feet, you need to make sure the whole front foot is in the picture and keep it off center, maybe in the top left? otherwise its good. the one with the couple under the flowery alter, you need to zoom in a bit yet dont cut off so much of their bodies...and the one with the couple outside with the water in the background, there are random children playing in the background and for me, its very distracting and doesnt make a picture look as professional. You may want to keep that picture but photoshop the children out and zoom in a bit on the couple but keep the water in the picture. The one with the little girl in the cheerleading outfit is REALLY professional looking except crop off her legs. Too much stuff at the bottom. I would crop up to her waist.

These are just suggestions, trying to help. Good luck taking pictures!
