Family Photo Poses

We are a family of five and live in K.C. , MO and need a really unique idea for a photo to put on the Christmas card? Indoors or out..whatever, just something that is amazing

One year, I painted a large sheet with a Christmas tree and huge ornaments. Five of the ornaments, though, were holes through which we stuck our heads and were the "ornaments" on the tree. That one turned out really nice. Another idea is five snowmen in descending sizes, completely white traditional snowmen made around us with sticks for arms but our real heads sticking up through it all and wearing stovepipe hats and winter scarves and such.

My Mom wants an updated family picture, adding my boyfriend into the mix. I'm just trying to find cute ideas for how or where we should pose for the picture. My mom is pretty talented with her camera. So any ideas on places or poses?

Assuming your mom either has a remote shutter release or will use the timer, she will also be in the pic. Some kind of pose which relates you to your parents and to your boyfriend appropriately. Save the kissing for pics of you and your boyfriend by yourselves. If your mom wants to take a pic like that, great. But I don't think it would be comfortable in a pic with them. If you have a staircase you could include in th pic, you could sit your dad at the height of the frame, your mom down a step between his feet, you down a step between her feet, your boyfriend down a step between your feet. Make sure your boyfriend's hands come together loosely to cover his crotch, it will look better. You can have your faces all in a line as long as you can see all the faces, or you can stagger the upper bodies. You can also have your dad put his arms loosely around your mother and you could put your arms loosely around your boyfriend. For another shot, have your mom put her arm around you too. These will be very cute and sweet pics. I did these poses with my brother's family and it turned out to be his wife's favorite poses.

We are a large family, 2 adults and 5 children, and we are taking family photos. We are planning to do take the photos outdoors at a park location. I want to find some creative ideas for taking standard family photos as well as photos for our Holiday Cards.

Where can I look for poses for taking family photos? I would also like to look at some other examples. Thanks!

Think about what describes your family, or your personalities. If you are an athletic family, maybe you want to add some soccer balls or basketballs. If you are a musical family, perhaps bringing some instruments into the photo would be fun? Hamming it up could be fun too, or picking a clothing theme. See if there are any other props you could use. Have fun!

Cynthia - pale yellow jumper.

Lucas - pale orange jumper.

Poses Two and Three - Mommy holding one baby at a time, lying in a pile of leaves.
