My husband, baby son and I are getting a family portrait taken this weekend. Our photographer does not have a studio so we need to come up with some ideas for shooting locations. Our apartment is too small and crowded. It is supposed to be cold this weekend (high 30's low 40's) so we don't really want to do outdoors. Any ideas for a festive location for our holiday photo?
we live in queens so anything near there would be preferrable

It's myself my husband and my two son's one is 11yrs old and the other is 4yrs old. Any ideas on what we should wear. It could be from fancy or not to fancy. Please I need help. Have your husband and sons wear a red polo shirt. You can find nice ones that aren't very expensive. Or have the boys wear a white button down shirt with a vest. Maybe khaki pants. You can wear a white button up shirt with a red vest or a white blouse with red sweater and khakis or a skirt. It doesn't have to be perfect. Most families try to match in holiday photos. You don't have to. Just a suggestion. Best of luck!

I'm very sorry if i am too late, but if you have an eye they your good to go. First and foremost positioning is a key factor to a great family portrait. Since you got a nice piece of equipment there should be no problem to where you shoot. As long as you have the knowledge of shooting you will turn out great photos in a 5 out of 6 ratio.

i love the color green on red heads, but thats just me. but if its in grassy aria you want to stand out in the pic. so i don't think green is such a good idea. what if you all wear a white shirt and jeans. a little dressy but casual.

Family photoshoot at Westboro Beach (and a bit about work flow ...
I had a photoshoot with a mother and her son at Westboro Beach last week.
They brought their dog to the shoot. The mom apologized but I was really happy about it. Family portraits should definitely include the family pet!
The dog was terribly excited - so high energy - that he wasn’t able to sit still for one single second. He chased the ducks, dug in the sand, ran up and down and up and down the beach, jumped and splashed in the water … I laughed and laughed. We were all covered in sand by the end of it. It was totally hilarious.
We couldn’t chase him down. It didn’t matter. My focus was on this little family.
Can I tell you again how much I enjoy taking photos of people in a meaningful, natural environment? It makes my heart sing:
This foray into family photography has been an amazing learning experience. I always walk away with something new.
