Starting up a small child/family portrait photography business and need a name. Something sweet and elegant but not too cheesy. Thoughts?
"The Memory of a lifetime"
Posing for family portraits requires a basic understand of good composition, as all of the people in the group should create a fluid pattern ...
That's gonna come with the territory. But that request is nothing compared to the media autrocities he's already perpetrated.
We are a large family, 2 adults and 5 children, and we are taking family photos. We are planning to do take the photos outdoors at a park location. I want to find some creative ideas for taking standard family photos as well as photos for our Holiday Cards.
Where can I look for poses for taking family photos? I would also like to look at some other examples. Thanks!
Think about what describes your family, or your personalities. If you are an athletic family, maybe you want to add some soccer balls or basketballs. If you are a musical family, perhaps bringing some instruments into the photo would be fun? Hamming it up could be fun too, or picking a clothing theme. See if there are any other props you could use. Have fun!
im trying to find one that has good focus and could take good nightime pictures as well..if you have any ideas of what kind or where i could find one?
at this point, I think an advanced point and shoot camera is the camera for you - preferrable something with larger than average sensor.
The Canon Powershot G9 sounds good for you - it is the best pocket camera currently made by Canon, it takes good pictures and for sure you will not be disappointed with them. Their ability to shoot RAW and a hotshoe to attach an external flash will give you an edge on night shoot compared to regular point and shoot camera.
I wouldn't recommend a DSLR to you until you learn more about photography, or you can enroll into a photography class and get one. In this case, The Canon Digital Rebel XT or the Nikon D40 is a good way to start.
You're going to need to know about photography for a good night shoot however - and a good tripod.
I have an Interior design background and also offer architectural photography as well, although my main focus is maternity, newborn, children, and family photography.

Miss Thang | Dallas + Houston + Sugar Land Family Photography ...

This mini session in Dallas was so much fun…. Little Miss Thang, as I was calling her (and her mom confirmed that she often calls her that too!), was just about as cute as can be and knew exactly how to work the camera! She worked it and worked it… And often showed me a thing or two about posing. For every pose I showed her to do, she showed me at least one or two other ones that were
