I'm a pretty good photographer, and have taken "postcard" images of cities all around the world (I travel a lot). My friends and family all love my photography, and have suggested I start some sort of (online) business, like offering prints for sale of my photography for postcards, wedding cards, stationary, the like.
I'm fascinated by this idea, but how much would you pay? For instance, let's say a stack of 10 postcards for London? Or how about a stack of 10 blank generic cards (think blank wedding/birthday cards with fold, no messages) of Paris? The like?
Thanks!
it was about 2-3 euros for 10 postcards of paris when i was there, unless you get them printed in bulk the sale and cost price will be about the same
i would pay about 1 euro for a postcard, and about 2-3 euros for ten

Hey
I'm applying to study a Foundation in Styling and Photography at the London College of Fashion in Sep 2009.
I'm 17, have a good job (earn close to £500 a month), and I'm completing a BTEC National Diploma in Art & Design.
What are my chances of getting in?
I'm awful with money, and haven't saved a penny yet (oops!).
I'm in a single-parent family (parent doesn't earn much at all.... definitely below the average), living in an ex-council house in N.Ireland. I don't know if I can afford to follow my dream and go to the best fashion college in the UK.
What sort of loan would I be able to get? Any other money sources? How do I find accommodation? (Zone 1 or 2 ideally)
It's really starting to upset me, I have no parental support, Mum thinks my ideas are ridiculous.... She keeps claiming I will never afford it, and I shouldn't bother....
PLEASE HELP!
Snap ! im going to apply at LCF to study footwear this year ! lol. But i think if earn a little you should be able to get a lot, same as if you earn a lot you would get a little , i suppose. But my bro got a student loan regardless of how much my parents earned.
I think everyone gets £2000 and ALSO depending on how much your parents earn you get a bit more. i dunno...
This is what i read on foundation degree footwear, so forget about £3145:
Funding for your course
After deciding which course you want to take the most important issue for you will be finding money for your course. Eligible students on Honours and Foundation degree courses can apply for a loan for their fees for £3145 from their Local Education Authority (LEA) and Student Loans Company. Your LEA will assess how much maintenance loan or grant you will receive for help with other costs. The amount of maintenance help depends on a test of income (including your parents and partner’s income).
You will find lots more about funding as well other student finance issues at
www.arts.ac.uk/fees_money.htm
you best bet is to ring up, if all else fails
hope this helps, =}
First of all thank you for viewing my query.

I am using a KM pentax asahi camera so its a black and white camera and i really want to graab! the urban decay
Definition of urban decay [ to help get some inspiration/ thoughts of london]
'' Urban decay is the sociological process whereby a city, or part of a city, falls into disrepair and decrepitude, with depopulation or changing population, economic restructuring, abandoned buildings, high local unemployment, fragmented families, political disenfranchisement, crime, and a desolate, inhospitable city landscape. Urban decay and gentrification are opposite processes, mirror images of each other. ''
where can i go and capture that ^
any ideas and suggestion would be very helpful!
thank you for your time!!
:)
Some very good suggestions here.
You could start your research on the following website that catalogues London's decaying buildings, parks, hospitals and many other things.

Hi I have a set of old Portrait photos of an unknown family and am trying to find out a little more about them i believe they are from the late 1800's and possibly early 1900's. There are various studios on the backs here are a few:
C. Herman- Camberwell School of Photography
Hellis and Sons- Head Studios Regent street London
F. Valery- The Parade Beckenham
W. A Brown and Son- Camberwell Road London
R. Roberts Willson- 116 Walworth Road
etc.
Does anyone have any information about these companies and any possible dates for the photos?
Any info would help a great deal
Thanks in advance
:-D
You can try searching for the photographers at this database site -

I wish to study business and by that I want to go to the best undergraduate business schools... I'm 17 yrs. old, a senior in high school and I live in South Texas. I'm also a Mexican national with dual citizenship in Mexico and the U.S. I reside in Texas. I come from a low middle-class family that has been greatly suffering the repercussions of the financial crisis our great nation is in!
Some facts:
my GPA is around 3.7 - 4.0
currently im ranked 41 out of 479 students in my class = top 8.5%
I'm enrolled in AP English IV, AP Macroeconomics, AP U.S. Government, AP Biology, CP PreCalculus, French III..etc
Last year I took AP U.S. History, and AP English III aside of Physics PreAP and Algebra II CP
I got a 1500 on the SAT the first time I took it :[
550 english, 550 writing, 400 math ://
I took the ACT and thats bad..20.
I recently took the SAT Subject Test in French, Literature, and Math Level 1..I haven't received the scores yet.
I know i suck at math :[ and thats my biggest weakness and what makes me less likely to get into a good school :[
I'm President of the World Club (foreign language-volunteer club)
I'm Vice-President of U.I.L at my school
I'm Historian for NHS (National Honors Society)
I volunteer at the hospital every other tuesday
I also volunteer in NHS events (cancer walk, trunk or treat, etc)
I've served at my church for many years. I've been part of the worship team for a long time playing the drums. I also taught children classes at some points in time. I consistently volunteer to help clean-up the church on "clean-up" days.
I've been in band for four years and I've marched in the band for three years.
My teachers label me charismatic, "smart", outstanding, a leader..among other things.
I'm the kind of person who might not be smart on the outside but in the inside i consider myself "good-enough." I have vision, determination, i dream big, i work hard, i don't conform with mediocre people (the majority at my school). I want to be someone who will impact society and who will become a succesfull business man (entreprenuer)!!! I'm extremely fond of jazz, classical music, figures of the past; marlon brando, miles davis, ella fitzgerald, julie london... I love to travel, its my passion! I love photography. I always feel like i'm seperated from the rest of the people at my school. I enjoy the more refined things in life. I'm very open-minded, culturally open. I enjoy challenges!
The colleges I've been considering include Cornell University, University of Pennsylvania, New York University, Carnegie Mellon University, Washington University in St. Louis, University of Texas at Austin, University of Notre Dame, University of Virginia, and Univeristy of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
These are so far the ones that I'm for sure applying to. They have some of the best business programs for undergraduates. Should I consider other schools? Are these out of reach for me? Any alternatives? Am I just being a "big-dreamer" and should I just consider easier alternatives, "within reach"?
Please be honest...
Your grades, your background, the classes you're taking - are all great. Really, very strong. Keep that up. Your SATs, though... They're about average, which is fine for the majority of colleges in the US, but not for most of the ones you're looking at. Most of those schools are reach schools for you, because your SATs and your ACT are way below their averages - so much below that I am very concerned about your ability to be accepted.
I do not want you to be held back by so-so SATs. And you don't *need* to be held back by those tests. But you may need to be a bit more flexible re: the schools you pick, and perhaps even your major. I'll talk about that in a minute.
What I strongly suggest you do is get an SAT (or ACT - your choice) prep book, like the one by Kaplan, and go through it in detail. When they tell you to take a sample test, you take a sample test. When they assign questions, you do them. Do the whole book. Then retake the SAT.
I also strongly advise you to apply to some of the elite level schools that do not accept the SAT/ACT, or which consider it optional. Your strong points will likely win them over, and your SATs won't matter. Now, know that many of those are small, liberal arts colleges - elite colleges, like Bates - and such colleges don't always offer business as a major. The thing is, though, you don't have to major in business to get a great job in business. You can major in a liberal arts at a top liberal arts school, do an internship in the business field you plan to enter, and be very well set up to be hired when you graduate. Or, if that's not a fit for you, you can focus on the colleges that I list that do offer business as a major. I'm just teeing up some ideas. Up to you to decide which work for you, personally. I do bring up the liberal arts colleges, though, specifically because of the type of person you say you are, and your interests. I suspect some of them may be a good fit for you.
Some of the very strong schools that I'd like you to look at, which do not require the SAT, include: Bates, Bowdoin, Wheaton (MA), Wake Forest, U Texas Austin (from your list!), U Nebraska Lincoln, Saint Lawrence U, Smith, Pitzer, Providence College, Prescott College, Mt. Holyoke, Bard, Hobart and William Smith, Hamilton (NY), Holy Cross, U Arizona, Arizona State, and Bennington.
Some of those, like U Texas, do offer business as a major. Some, like Bates, do not. But all are extremely well respected, and based on everything other than your SAT scores, I think you stand a shot.
This does *NOT* mean you shouldn't apply to the schools on your list. You should. But also include some schools where your SATs aren't as much of a factor.
You should be a big dreamer. But also be smart about it. If you know your SATs are your weak point, do apply to some reach schools, where you know SATs matter and your SATs are low for them, but the rest of your application is spot on; some fit schools, where either they consider the SAT optional, or don't consider the SAT, or where your SAT scores are more or less in their range; and a couple of backups - schools that are really strong both overall and in your business major, but where you're pretty darn sure you'd get in. U Arizona and Arizona State are examples of that. Very well ranked business programs, very well ranked overall universities, and shockingly considering their quality, not too hard to get into. Another very good safety for you may be Baruch College. I really think you might get in there.
