im trying to find one that has good focus and could take good nightime pictures as well..if you have any ideas of what kind or where i could find one?
at this point, I think an advanced point and shoot camera is the camera for you - preferrable something with larger than average sensor.
The Canon Powershot G9 sounds good for you - it is the best pocket camera currently made by Canon, it takes good pictures and for sure you will not be disappointed with them. Their ability to shoot RAW and a hotshoe to attach an external flash will give you an edge on night shoot compared to regular point and shoot camera.
I wouldn't recommend a DSLR to you until you learn more about photography, or you can enroll into a photography class and get one. In this case, The Canon Digital Rebel XT or the Nikon D40 is a good way to start.
You're going to need to know about photography for a good night shoot however - and a good tripod.
Life as a portrait photographer... some clients are more lovely than others.
I want to major in photography when I get out of high school... But I'm not sure what type?! I want to do all types of photography, taking picture's of celebrities for magazines to just family pictures and animals and nature and just everything. Is there a real title for this kind of photography? Also, what do I have to do to get into college and accomplish this? And I want to direct and videograph thing's?!
Anyone with real experience would be greatly appreciated! :)
your basically an all around photographer. like to take pictures of anything and everything. they do have seperate types of majors.. just do one major and then a minor... but in some cases the major is pure digital photography so you can take whatever you want with that type of major. hope this all made sense lol. Also once you get into your school and try different types you might find one more interesting and continue on and master in it later... maybe i dunno it can happen :D
good luck!!!

I am just starting a photography business, and my husband's aunt, after seeing pictures that I did for his parent's anniversary, have asked me to take pictures of their family for their own anniversary. How much do I charge? His aunt said to make sure I include travel costs (I will be traveling about 45 minutes each way), which I will add to the price afterward. I am going to create a DVD with all of their edited photos (group shot, individual families, grandkids, etc.) on it. What should I charge for that? I will tell them that they are free to print those pictures if they want to, but if they would like them printed on professional grade paper (as was the case in the picture they saw from husband's parents' anniversary), I will print it for them and let them know the cost once I know what they are ordering.
What do you think?
Check around your area and see what other photographers are charging and price accordingly. Do not forget to consider the price of your camera, lenses, tripod, lights and all your other overhead items. You will have to replace them eventually and just because we like to use our cameras does not mean we get them free.... Also consider your time. How much will be spent in front of a computer editing? Travel cost should also include time as well as gas, and wear & tear on your vehicle. I know it is easy to think these are people within my family but if they have agreed to pay and you have agreed to charge them then do so. Be Fair but do so. Its ok to give family a break but you have a right to make a living as well....
I want to do photography when im older (i'm 12 but have wanted to be one for about 3/4 years) but want to know if they still do it at colleges and what qualifications you need. Also I want to be taking family pictures and pictures of babies. If this helps.
xx
Build yourself up a portfolio if you can. Doesn't have to be of families/babies, even though that's what you want to do later, just take a lot of photos to show you have experience.
And get yourself a Flickr, they're great for making photographer friends, getting advice and inspiration.
Good luck! = )
My wife and I are looking for a nice digital camera. She would like it for taking routine pictures(vacation, birthdays, etc...). I love outdoor photography, I also would like it for taking family pictures. I have a Nikon N70 and have been very happy with it but would like to go digital. Any help would be appreciated.
You didn't state a budget.
If you have some Nikon glass, take a look at the Nikon D50, D70s, or the new one, D80. Or the D200 but that is a step up in the pocketbook.
Any of these will serve you in whatever capacity you desire.
Don't forget to budget for memory cards, maybe a flash unit, and an image working software program of some kind. (Adobe Photoshop CS , Paintshop Pro, and Photoshop Elements are some of the most popular.)
You will find your wide angle lens is not as wide on a smaller sensor dslr, so you also might want either the kit lens or an ultra wide angle of some sort.
Good luck!

Little Moon Blog » Picture Perfect Weekend | Easton Maryland ...
This weekend was SO much fun! We headed out of town to my Dad’s farm over in Easton, MD to hang out and get some family photographs of everyone for their Christmas Cards, etc. The weather was stunning and we went out right before sunset while the light was heavenly to get these shots. I have SUCH an amazing family and am so blessed.
Here is my sister and her gorgeous family.
