What is a good company name for Photography/Graphic Design/Event Planning Company?
10

I am starting a small company that will include:
*Photography (Mostly outside in natural light - portraits, engagement, maternity, family, children)
*Graphic Design (flyers, invitations, favors, Christmas Cards, business cards, ...)
* Event Planning (Showers - baby and bridal, birthday, engagement parties)

I am very involved in my church and love Jesus with all my heart.

I have been thinking about a company name since July this year. I came up with
J29:Eleven Designs. (Favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11) This reminds people of 9/11. I don't want a company name that reminds people of a ver sad day in American History.

I have an excel spreadsheet that is filled with ideas. Can you help?

I really didn't want to have the name too long but because it encompass so much stuff I should include Photography and Graphic Design. You think?

I love these:
Pixel
Shutter
Blissful
Brilliance
Milestone
"Picture is worth a 1000 words"
Cali for California
Curly

Hi Cali:
I love Jesus too! You do alot of different things so you don't want a name like Shutter that just points to the photography part of your business. I think you need a broader name. I do alot of things too, all under "design" so I called my business "Plain Jane Design" and underneath that, list "photography, painting, interior design". That way, I can give my card out for any of those interests. I kind of liked the J29:Eleven Designs myself:D

Need help with shooting and posing 30+ people, outdoors on Thansksgiving!?
06

I do photography, but I haven't been practicing it for a long time. But my boyfriend's family asked me if I would take their family portrait, outside, on Thanksgiving. There will be around 30 of them. I'm looking for any posing ideas, lighting tips etc. Anything will help!

If the day is overcast you'll have perfect diffused lighting without the squints, if sunny try to find open shade or put their backs towards the sun and expose for them, using the flash to fill in the light. With 30+ people you can't get crazy artistic and I suspect they are just looking for a record of the family So I would do this...the youngest who can sit on their own should sit on the ground, elders should be behind them on a bench or chairs, the rest may stand but make sure you can see each face.If the group is going to wide, have those standing turn a shoulder towards you and step in closer to the center. If you must, have a few stand on chairs behind those standing on the ground.

If you are near an area with steps or bleachers this might be easier for you.

Indoor photography lighting...HELP!!?
07

A family friend is pregnant, and wants me to take her maternity pictures. I'd be more than glad to, because I love photography. However, most of the pictures I do for my family and stuff are all outside. I just use the natural light. But I know I can't drag some pregnant lady outside...those have to be done inside. So I've been practicing. I can't seem to get my lighting right. With no flash, the picture is not dark, but it is blurry. My on-camera flash is not enough. My Nikon speed light flash is too much. So, I try to bounce the flash off of one of those white umbrellas...but then I get ugly shadows under her chin and behind her. When I get farther away, then it gets too dark. I am SO frustrated! I don't know what to do!

Are you shooting on full or half power? Try bouncing the light off of a wall behind you or a ceiling. Works great for me. r try getting a bounce card, aiming your speedlight straight up.

Knights Ferry, CA – During our fabulous California adventure we had the pleasure of photographing Kari and Dean’s beautiful family at this really great location. Don’t get me wrong, we love living in New England and being outside of Boston we have the opportunity to shoot at some magnificent locations, but the power and quality of the California light is unparalleled. However, it didn’t take much to make these guys look good.
