FUJIFILM FINEPIX S100FS or FUJIFILM FINEPIX S200EXR?

I am an amateur photographer and I am getting my first DSLR. It's between the FUJIFILM FINEPIX S100FS and the FUJIFILM FINEPIX S200EXR. Any suggestions?

The S200EXR stands on its own as a hybrid between a superzoom and SLR, with a 14.3x optical zoom lens and Fuji's Super CCD sensor. Expect ...

Which one is worth to buy? Nikon D3000 or Fujifilm FinePix S200EXR.?

Hi, I am new with photography and thinking of buying a camera. I was wondering if Fujifilm FinePix S200EXR can perform the same result as Nikon D3000 (with 18-55mm lens). Both have the same price. Thanks.

You ARE new to digital photography.

Just look at the difference in sensor size. The larger the sensor, the higher resolution a camera can produce.

The Fujifilm S200 EXR has a tiny sensor of 7.78 x 5.83 mm vs. the Nikon D3000 at 23.6 x 15.8 mm

And of course the Nikon is a fully adjustable camera, so you have complete control over the exposures.... add to that over 60 current interchangeable lenses, the answer is quite clear

Which digital camera is best for photography?

I wanted to get into photography a bit and wanted to find a pretty good camera for a reasonable price. By the looks of it, most good cameras start at around the $350-450 range. Ive been looking at:

fujifilm FinePix S200EXR
fujifilm FinePix S2000HD
Nikon D3000
Cannon Powershot G10

Which one is best? (Either of these or of another camera which you've had personal experience with)

Thanks.

Only one of the above listed cameras is a DSLR and is fully adjustable, the Nikon D3000.

The other three are basically point and shoot cameras which do no allow a photographer to control the exposures of their images ... something "photography" is all about. Nor do the Fujifilm and Canon cameras have interchangeable lenses, the other half of using a camera for "photography"

Does battery voltage have to match for digital cameras?

I'm buying a replacement Li-Ion battery for my Fujifilm FinePix S200EXR, and I'm looking into generic brands because of the huge price difference. Only problem is, they all tend to have higher mAh and voltage values. Does this matter? Do they have to match?
I guess I should correct myself and say that I'm looking for an EXTRA battery, not a replacement.

They have to match exactly.

Even then they may damage some cameras and could be a problem when charging them. OEM batteries have circuitry that "talks" to the charger so the battery does not overheat during charging which can lead to 1) overheating the battery which will shorten is life, 2) cause a fire or in the worse case 3) cause an explosion.

It is never recommended using generic batteries on any camera, but especially not cameras what are still under warranty.

Now the question is this? Why do you need another battery so soon? Your camera is barely 3 months old .... Li-ion batteries should last over four years if you treat it properly.

What is the difference in cost between an OEM and generic battery for your camera?

I would just spend the $50 for the real deal and not risk any of the downside of generic batteries.

Digital Camera comparison?

I have looked at a comparison of these two cameras on dp review (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_ post.asp?method=sidebyside&cameras=f ujifilm_s200exr%2Cpanasonic_dmcfz35& show=all) but, I'm a novice and don't understand everything. could someone tell me which camera would generally be considered better a Fujifilm FinePix S200EXR or a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35?

*also, I can't tell if they have interchangeable lenses (which is a must)

ta

Neither of them have interchangeable lenses, because they're just advanced point-and-shoots, but not DSLRs.
If you want to buy an external flash, get the Fujifilm (it has a hot-shoe). If you want to record videos in HD, get the Panasonic Lumix.

  • Fujifilm Finepix S200EXR review | Expert Reviews

The S200EXR is the first bridge camera we’ve seen in a long time. Bridge cameras have controls and ergonomics to rival SLR cameras, but are built around small sensors similar to those found in compact cameras. They were once seen as a low-cost alternative to an SLR, but now that SLRs are available from £300, it’s not surprising that the market for bridge cameras has dwindled. The S200EXR’s 14.3x zoom lens keeps it in the running, though. Matching this zoom range on an SLR would require an expensive lens upgrade, bringing the total cost of an equivalent SLR package to around £700.

If there is a market for these bridge cameras, Fujifilm has it sown up, as there isn’t anything else quite like the S200EXR. Its closest competition comes from Panasonic’s Lumix DMC-FZ38 and its ilk. These cameras are more compact than the S200EXR, and their 18, 20 and 24x zooms are even bigger. However, they can’t compete with the S200EXR for ergonomics.

With its big handgrip, dual lens rings for zoom and focus plus a command dial for adjusting exposure and other settings, it feels like an SLR in operation. There are lots of single-use controls, including buttons for ISO speed, white balance, drive mode and exposure compensation, plus switches for metering and focus modes. This makes adjusting settings extremely quick, but there are a couple of caveats. One is that the RAW shooting mode is buried in the Set-up menu rather than placed alongside the JPEG compression control. More annoyingly, when shots are being saved to SD card, most of the buttons are unresponsive.
