I am looking for a good book that is not too technical or a website just to guide me on film and tips and tricks to get the most out of the camera.
I am particulary interested in black and white film.
Also if someone knows the processing costs for the film and how many shots there are per roll that would be great too.
Thanks
go to a good camera store and find out if you have all the pieces. You should have either a 75 or 80mm lens, at least, a viewfinder, a back and a few other things.
It is a perfectly good camera to start with, albeit somewhat expensive because the cost of processing 6cmx6cm film is quite a bit more expensive than 35mm.
I would read the manual and work myself through the camera first, knowing what it is, how it works, etc.
Next, I would get a good volume that spells out basic photography in terms that you can understand.
I don't know if that camera has a meter on it, but if it does, go ahead and buy an off camera meter and do everything at first as manually as possible.
If it has been sitting, your shutter speeds might have to be adjusted, which will be about 200 Bucks each if they need it. Check the foam the camera and make sure that it is good and not flaking off
Photography is not inexpensive as the further you get away from 35mm and digital (which to me are about the same costs), the more expensive.
There are no one hour shops for the film, you will have to take them to a professional house for developing and printing unless y ou want to try taht yourself.
When I first purchased my Hasselblad I struggled to load film--both 120 and 220--in it. Then, one day, a kind soul taught me how. I took a video ...
keep your elbows close to your sides and take a deep breath before shooting, and push the shutter as you exhale slowly...
First, as Perki said, make sure your dark slide is fully inserted into its slot. Then, slide the button atop the back to the right to disengage the latch, tilt the back away from the body, and lift it away.
You reverse the procedure when attaching it to a body, and for taking pictures.
Price: $26.95
Fully adjustable (approx. 40"- 48")
Quick disconnects
A choice of two designs fits most medium format & 35mm cameras with retaining lugs
i'm thinking about purchasing a Hasselblad 500 elm, and wanted to know if they take Digital backs, and if so would it really be worth using that sort of equipment on a 500 elm?
any answers would be greatly appreciated;)
hey thanks for the advice, it's really helpful, I've already purchased the camera with accessories at what i think is a pretty great price, ($515AU) digital back or not, it's still a great piece of equipment to have at hand. thanks again!
You are going to have to go directly to Hasselblad for that answer. Over the past few decades the Hasselblad systems have changed just enough so not all backs are interchangeable.
I just got off the phone with a colleague who owns a studio and he told me that his has sold his old Hasselblad 39 digital camera system and gone to using Nikon D3x's in the studio. For him at least, this is a good move since he has been using Nikon DSLR's for location shoots and has a full compliment of lenses.
can anyone also tell me what the orange numbers on the 2.8 planner SYNCHRO COMPUR lens mean?
Many thanks
