I have a kodak easyshare z1285. I want to know how to activate light in video camera mode
If you're talking about the flash (I assume) I agree not possible.
Any flash unit uses a huge amount of energy and creates lots of heat.
Turning on a light like that would over heat and eventually burn up any flash unit.
Add some other kind of artificial light.

For Christmas, i received a Kodak EasyShare Z1285 12mp camera; but the only problem is the batteries. Standard AA batteries are useless and run out too quickly, so i want to purchase some rechargeable ones. Which is the best make and the ones likely to last the longest? Thanks.
NiMH rechargable batteries are the way to go. There are two types of NiMH batteries, standard and the newer low-discharge. The standard NiMH batteries that you find at the drug store have a shelf life (battery sitting on a shelf not doing anything useful) of about 2 to 3 weeks before needing to recharge them. The newer low-discharge types have a shelf life of months.
Standard NiMH batteries are fine if you use your camera a lot and find yourself recharging the batteries once per week. If you find that the camera sits around for 2 weeks doing nothing, then get the low-discharge types. Best to get two sets of batteries so you can use one set while the other set charges. Plus, you'll have a spare set when you need to shoot lots of pictures.
If you can't find low-discharge types locally, then mail order. Be sure to get a good charger. Maha is considered good.

Connect your camera to your PC / Laptop to access and synchronize your pictures.
Please pair use with Kodak USB A/V Connector (not included) when using this cable for the following models: M873 / M883 / M1033 / V530 / V570 / V603 / V610 / V705 / V1073 / V1233 / V1253 / V1273

I have read that this is possible, but I have had no luck doing it. I have the camera connected to my pc via a usb cord, but that's all I've been able to do so far.
Using Kodak cameras as a webcam is not possible. Most Kodak EasyShare digital cameras take videos, but they cannot be used as Webcams.
Only the Kodak EZ200 digital camera, KODAK DVC300, DVC323 and DVC325 Digital Video Camera can be used as webcams.
I just got this camera and want to know how many pics the camera will hold on a 3GB memory card && 12MP
The memory card I like, bought, and have tested is the Kodak 1GB for $10.88 at Walmart. Had liked SanDisk, but had trouble with two and these were a little more expensive so took them back. Both seemed to be about the same speed. Don't like to put too many pictures on one card because something can go wrong and all pictures would be lost. Also, different cards could be used for different subject areas.
Check the Memory Card Storage Table at this link:
http://www.digitalphotographywebsite.com /memorycardstoragechart.html ...
The number of pictures that memory will hold depends on the mega pixel setting on your camera. My camera will hold about 900 pictures with a 1 GB memory card and a setting of 3 mega pixels. It will take 84 minutes of video at 30 fps. Could use a 5.2 mega pixel setting, but there would be no improvement in picture quality.
Most companies are touting high mega pixel to sell cameras, but high mega pixel settings take longer to process and may not be needed unless required for large pictures or enlarging parts of pictures. Maximum print size for a 3 mega pixel setting is 8 x 10 inches. Click links below for more details.

If there are no memory card slots on your computer, purchase a Targus card reader at Walmart for $8.88 or another brand for less at Ritz/Wolf/Kit camera. Also, they do 3½ x 5" digital prints for 6¢ each on Tuesday and Wednesday.
CAUTION To prevent memory card corruption, keep batteries charged and don't delete. Wait for lights to stop flashing then turn camera off before removing memory. For card readers, double click Safely Remove Hardware. Select then click Stop and OK.

Looks like the 1285 will record and play HD video where the 1275 would not. If you use the video features, you may find this valuable. Meh.
