I am looking on ebay for my son and I need to find a cheep flash for his minolta maximum 7000 camera. I need to know what flashes are compatible with that camera? Thanks
Well almost any flash providing it has enough power to fill your sons needs. If your camera has both a hot and p/c plug "you are in like flynn". If you only have a "hot shoe". Then you are stuck with hot shoe flashes or get a hot shoe to p/c adapter. The adapters that protect your camera contacts are around $50 plus of course, plus the cost of the flash. The adapters usually convert hot shoe (on the camera) to p/c use. and protect your electrical contacts from overload.
If you need the adapter, I would reccommend the wein adapter.
Minolta burst onto the scene in 1985 with their new in-body auto-focus camera system and changed the modern SLR camera forever.this camera is ...
will it auto focus, auto step down aperture, if not will it show when manually focused in green on camera?
The only thing you should be mindful of when using old film-intended Minolta lenses on K-M or Sony dSLR's is that you may suffer a slight loss of contrast or ghosting or strange highlights in certain photo situations. When those lenses were made, they shone the image onto film that absorbed a considerable portion of the light. Sensors tend to reflect a lot of light back onto the rear element.
This is true of all manufacturers' lenses. 'Digital' lenses usually have anti-reflective coatings on the rear element to combat this. It's neither a lens or camera fault, just a fact of life.
Oh, I forgot, yes, it should work fine.
Price: $19.95
My grandfather gave me his Minolta Maxxus 7000 camera for christmas. After going through a couple of films and reloading a new one I encountered a problem. I looked through my camera and it's not clear like a window. It's really dark, and I can actually see my eye's reflection when looking through it. Everything seems to be working fine, it's just the darkness when I look through the lens. Does anyone know what it could be? How I can fix it?
Your depth of files actuator may be on.
Open your lens and see if that helps. You will have to ask your grandfather how that works
I know that Sony took over Minolta and understand that Minolta AF lenses will work in manual mode, but will Sigma AF lenses work either in manual mode or AF mode?
When considering a purchase that large, I would suggest you take your lens into a camera store and actually try the lenses on the new camera ...
If nothing else the professional in the store will know.
What is the difference between these two cameras? I have a 7000i (I think aka Dynax) but almost everything online talks about the 7000.
Is that it? All others lenses etc are fully compatible?
The 7000i added:
Faster and more sensitive AF
Faster film advancement
A new flash shoe that was incompatible with older flash units
Supported the Minolta AF lens system
Introduced the "Expansion Card System" which was a precursor to today's innumerable "Scene Modes" found in most digital cameras. This was an early attempt to save the novice photographer from having to actually learn anything about f-stops and shutter speeds and EV.
