I have a konica minolta G600 digital camera that I purchased used a couple of years ago for less than $100 on ebay. recently though I've seen the same exact camera on Amazon and other sites for prices reaching nearly $900. The SAME freakin' camera. I'm just trying to get an idea where this insane price jump came from. please respond only if you can give a relavant answer. Thank you
The G600 is an older camera (nearly three and a half years), thus older technology.

Refurbished G600's cost around $400.
You seem to have found a deal. The big plus for this camera has to do with the fact that it can use both the most popular SD memory card and the propriatary Sony Memory Stick. In addition is has one of the largest sensors found in P&S digital cameras

Complicated mechanisms are built in the compact body thanks to new mechanical artifices.
The Zoom Lock prevents unwanted barrel extension when carrying the lens/camera combination
Designed to confine the changing angles of incidences of light rays reaching the imager within a certain scope
IF they are the Maxxum series lenses then yes they will work on the Maxxum 5D/7D/Sony Alpha A100. If they are the MD series (for older X/XG/SRT cameras) they will not
I have many good Minolta Rokkor lenses I've used on several Minolta SRT camera bodies. I understand that Sony bought Minolta so will any of the Sony digital bodies fit the Rokkors (like the older Pentax lenses do with current Pentax digitals)?
There is an adapter but its hard to find although a visit to the Sony web site might be helpful. Other than that just keep checking on eBay. Unfortunately, when Minolta introduced the Maxxum 7000 AF camera in 1985 they changed their lens mount. Sony now uses the A-mount so any Maxxum AF lens will work just fine on a Sony DSLR.

what camera should I buy to replace the three I have? | Blog Info
I am tired of carrying 3 cameras everywhere I go! I have the following: (1) a small point and shoot digital camera, 2 years old, (needed for its convenient size, instant picture review, and ease of e-mailing pictures), (2) a Minolta Maxuum 35 mm, 17 years old, with various lenses (needed for taking wide angles, telephotos, and doing creative photography that the digital one can’t handle), and (3) a digital tape (mini DV) camcorder, 3 years old. I have been carrying all three of them around all week while hiking in the Grand Canyon, and have decided I need to find one camera that will do everything I need! Don’t want to spend a fortune, but want something that is fully digital, gives the quality and lens changing options of the Minolta, and takes videos. Oh yes, and preferably is not too heavy! Does such a camera exist? What is it called? How much does it cost? THANK YOU!
Edit: nvm, the Canon XTi and Nikon D80 do not allow movie clips. The prosumer Canon S5 IS does and it’s the best choice after the previous two for photo shooting and versatility that I know of. (It has 12X zoom, it’s compact, it has 8 mps, and it’s a canon so the image quality should most likely be very good.) I don’t think you can change the lens on it though.
