You'll be happier with the 135mm f2.8 Rokkor-X. There are usually several available on ebay.

A short review detailing the specifics of the Minolta Maxxum 135mm f/2.8 for the A or alpha mount. Included is a short of the lens working on the ...
I have a Minolta X-GM camera (from 1981) and a 50mm lens and I would like a better lens but I am not sure what works with my camera.
Any Minolta MC (Meter Coupled) or MD (Meter Dedicated) lens will work just fine on your XG-M. I regularly use a 58mm MC ROKKOR on my XD-11.
Designed to match the specific focal length of the lens
Replacement for Canon EW-73B Lens Hood
Extra protection from accidental impact
I don't have it in hand to see numbers on it. It is being given to me and I have a Minolta Maxxum HTi plus SLR, and am planning to get a digital Maxxum soon, so I'm wondering if this lens will fit them and don't see info online that helps me. Anybody familiar or can find out?
Ask any questions I've not thought to answer here.
Thanks
Correction, the camera I have is an HTsi Plus.
Exactly! I LOVE the Minolta Maxxums! And thanks for the info, I guess I don't need to take the lens.
Unfortunately, no. The mount for that lens is the Minolta MC mount and it is totally unsuitable for an A-Mount Maxxum camera. It will cause damage to one or both components if you try.
However, if you can get a hold of (the best lens ever made!) a Minolta 135mm STF, then that will fit both the HTsi and a digital Maxxum. Sony now make the same lens under their name.
If I may be so intrusive, why would you want a digital Maxxum? I own and adore two Maxxum 7D's but they're old-hat and can't compete with Sony Alphas (or those from Canon, Nikon etc) any more. Unless you take the color rendition into account - in which case they blow them away.Or unless you take the superior controls layout in to account. Or unless you take....yeah, get one!

Circular aperture produces a more natural background

So, I recently purchased a Minolta XG7 with a 135mm lens. the only problem is, I think I need a 50 mm lense also. I mean the 135mm lens is great and everything, but I don't think it's practical. I only bought it because it was super cheap and in good condition.
Does anyone know what kind of 50mm to get and where I could get one?

Does anyone know if these lenses would be compatable with a Minolta DSLR like the Maxxum 5D? I have an opportunity to buy them. They are being sold with these cameras. Thanks.

Manual Focus Lenses :: View topic - Question - M42 to Pentax Mount ...
The best PK/M42 adapter, better even than the Pentax one as it has less tolerances and the inner flange for auto only lenses, is the Japanese-made Kindai one. It's pretty expensive, and can be bought in Hong Kong from Carris or straight from the manufacturer. See also this thread on pentaxforums . There's also a store selling them on ebay but price is much higher than from Carris or the manufacturer. I've had two flush-type adapters for about 30 years. One is a genuine Pentax (marked ASAHI PENTAX JAPAN). The non-genuine one, marked "M42 Pentax K/M", doesn't always lock properly and I once had a very scary moment with a Jupiter 9 which unmounted itself when I turned the focus dial, so I never use it now. The lens index mark is about 30° from vertical on the fake one too. The finer quality of the genuine one is there to see.
