What Lenses Work On A Minolta SRT 101?

IS there a specific list of lenses that will fit onto a MINOLTA SRT 101? Or maybe lenses that work with specific converters? ITS A MINOLTA SRT 101 35MM FILM CAMERA.

Please Help?
I am dying to get some things for this camera :D.

A word of caution. ACE has given some excellent links to resources for Minolta lenses. However, the name Rokkor has NO SPECIFIC RELATIONSHIP to the SRT line of camera models. Rokkor is the designation Minolta used to identify any lens manufactured by Minolta (They originally built cameras that used lenses manufactured by other German and Japanese companies). This type of designation was, and still is, a common practice in the optical industry, Minolta used Rokkor, Nikon uses Nikor, Pentax uses Takumar, Olympus uses Zuiko, etc. to identify the lenses they manufactured regardless of the camera brand.

In addition, there were many third party lens manufacturers who made lenses to fit the SRT101 and its cousins. Soligor, Tamron and Vivitar were some of the leading brands in the late 60's through the 70's which was the heyday of the SRT line of cameras. What you need to look for are lenses with the SR mount (also often called SRT). Most lenses whether made by Minolta or a third party designed for the SRT models had an MC designation, which meant Meter Coupled, engraved on the lens to identify them as fully compatible with all the SRT models. The MD and X designations were used by Minolta for later models in their line of products that maintained backward compatibility to the SRT cameras.

Also, the Celtic line of lenses were manufactured by or under the control of Minolta as a less expensive group of lenses that met Minolta's quality standards.

Minolta also manufactured Rokkor lenses under license to Leica for the Minolta CLE camera which uses the Leica bayonet mount. These were also made to fit Leica rangefinder cameras. These lenses WILL NOT FIT the SRT models and often command a substantially higher price than comparable lenses from other manufacturers.

MOST lenses prior to those for the SRT, but designed for the SR mount will function with the SRT models but will be more difficult to operate because they will not take advantage of the Meter Coupling function and may have some operational limitations as well.

HTH, Good luck. Email if you have questions about a specific lens or compatibility questions.

Minolta SRT-101 Complete Walkthrough

Here's a video tour of my 1967 Minolta SRT-101. I bought this camera off eBay a few months ago, and after running 4 rolls through it, I've ...

I can get either an Olympus OM-1 or a Minolta SRT 101, which one should I pick?

I've been offered one or the other and I'm not sure which one to pick.

I'd go with the Minolta.

Both are fine cameras, but both are so old that service is pretty much impossible to find. Minolta sold a lot more SRTs, so lenses and other accessories are easy to find on the used market, usually at very reasonable prices.

Be darn sure the shutter, meter and lens are in working order before you take one home.

Minolta srt 101 shutter lock?

Does the minolta srt 101 have a shutter lock. I need to be able to leave the shutter open for a good while and don't want to stand there holding it down. If it does please tell me how to do it.

Unfortunately going by memory isn't always reliable, that "little round silver button near lens" is the lens release button.
Your camera has a B shutter setting which holds the shutter open for as long as you press the shutter button. Fortunately the shutter button is threaded for a cable release attachment of which lockable versions are available. Simply screw in the cable release, press it and lock it to keep the shutter open for as long as required then release the lock to close the shutter.

Minolta srt 101. How do you use it?

O.kay my mom gave me her old minolta srt 101 cause she didnt know how to use it and still doesnt. I need how to open up the back or where the film or wat ever is in there. I need some one to tell me how use it plzzzzzz

First, either find the Owner's Manual or buy one on line. I recommend Craig's for the original Owner's Manual (http://www.craigcamera.com).

Another good resource is "How To Select & Use Minolta SLR Cameras" by Carl Shipman. Although it doesn't cover the SRT-101 it does feature the SRT-201 which is very similar.

You'll need a WEIN MRB625 battery for the meter.

If the light seals and mirror bumper need replacing, I suggest Garry's Camera Repair (http://www.garryscamera.com). He charges $40.00 + $8.00 shipping and will return your camera in excellent condition within 2 weeks of receiving it.

Can Minolta srt 101 lens fit Nikon D60?

I have a old Minolta srt 101 and a lot of lenses. I want to upgrade to a digital camera but do not want to spend tons of money and then my lens not fit. Can anyone help me... what new digital camera will fit my Minolta lenses???

No they will not mount to any current DSLR.

The Minolta "SR" bayonet lens mount used by the lenses for your SRT-101 was replaced by Minolta in 1985 when they introduced the Maxxum 7000 auto focus camera with the A-mount. The current Sony DSLR cameras still use the A-mount so any Minolta Maxxum lens made since 1985 can be used.

There is an adapter to use your classic Minolta lenses on the current Sony DSLR line and there are adapters made to allow them to be used on Canon and Olympus DSLR cameras. To the best of my knowledge there is currently no adapter made to use Minolta "SR" mount lenses on a Nikon.

Since using your older Minolta lenses on the DSLR's I listed will require manual focus and stop-down metering, you might want to consider selling them. Then you can use the money towards your new camera.

***** EDIT *****
Please email me a list of the Minolta lenses you have. I'm in the market for a Minolta MC ROKKOR-X 17mm f4 lens.
