Please Help?
I am dying to get some things for this camera :D.

A word of caution. ACE has given some excellent links to resources for Minolta lenses. However, the name Rokkor has NO SPECIFIC RELATIONSHIP to the SRT line of camera models. Rokkor is the designation Minolta used to identify any lens manufactured by Minolta (They originally built cameras that used lenses manufactured by other German and Japanese companies). This type of designation was, and still is, a common practice in the optical industry, Minolta used Rokkor, Nikon uses Nikor, Pentax uses Takumar, Olympus uses Zuiko, etc. to identify the lenses they manufactured regardless of the camera brand.

In addition, there were many third party lens manufacturers who made lenses to fit the SRT101 and its cousins. Soligor, Tamron and Vivitar were some of the leading brands in the late 60's through the 70's which was the heyday of the SRT line of cameras. What you need to look for are lenses with the SR mount (also often called SRT). Most lenses whether made by Minolta or a third party designed for the SRT models had an MC designation, which meant Meter Coupled, engraved on the lens to identify them as fully compatible with all the SRT models. The MD and X designations were used by Minolta for later models in their line of products that maintained backward compatibility to the SRT cameras.

Also, the Celtic line of lenses were manufactured by or under the control of Minolta as a less expensive group of lenses that met Minolta's quality standards.

Minolta also manufactured Rokkor lenses under license to Leica for the Minolta CLE camera which uses the Leica bayonet mount. These were also made to fit Leica rangefinder cameras. These lenses WILL NOT FIT the SRT models and often command a substantially higher price than comparable lenses from other manufacturers.

MOST lenses prior to those for the SRT, but designed for the SR mount will function with the SRT models but will be more difficult to operate because they will not take advantage of the Meter Coupling function and may have some operational limitations as well.

HTH, Good luck. Email if you have questions about a specific lens or compatibility questions.

I need a flash for a Minolta SRT 200 - what will work?

I am a novice photographer (I use the term loosely) and I picked up a Minolta SRT 200 at a garage sale for $10 - the camera works fine, but the flash, a Minolta Electroflash 20, is totally inop. I have been searching the web for a replacement but cannot find one. Does anyone know what is a suitable substitute?

Look for a Vivitar 283. Its an excellent choice for your Minolta. I've used my 283 since Feb. 1976.

What is the best battery replacement for my Minolta SRT 201 as far as size and voltage?

WeinCell MRB625. A Zinc/Air 1.35V replacement for the old mercury battery. Its what I use in my Minolta SRT-202.

Minolta srt 102 manual camera help?

OK, well this is going to ssound really bad and like im completely ignorant, but i cant figure out how to open the back of my Minolta Srt 102 camera... Someone please help me!

Looking down at your camera with the back towards you, pull up on the rewind knob located on the top left side. AFTER you've rewound the film if there is any in the camera. The rewind button is in a recess on the bottom right of the camera.

The SRT-102 is an excellent student camera. If you don't have the Owner's Manual then you definitely should get one. Check on eBay or at http://www.craigcamera.com

You might find one to download at http://www.butkus.org

If you need a battery, the WEIN MRB625 is the one to get.

An excellent companion to the Owner's Manual is "How To Select & Use Minolta SLR Cameras" by Carl Shipman. Another excellent book is "Object & Image: An Introduction To Photography, Third Edition" by George M. Craven.

Good luck with your photography.

  • Minolta Srt Film Slrs: Still Clicking After All These Years ...

For a small, but determined group, the Minolta SRT series cameras are still a viable path to SLR photography. Even though the cameras themselves have been out of production for over twenty years and Minolta exited the camera business in 2006, Minolta SRTs are still a hot commodity on ebay, pawnshops and used camera dealers.

check the camera carefully before buying. After time, the shutter speeds have been out of production for over twenty years old and the available silver oxide cells are the wrong voltage. This is really a paper tiger. Use of a battery for the camera’s internal meter. The meter on the auction block. The SRT shooter can find some truly rare and excellent lenses to fit the SRT camera line is still producing great images. The SRT101 started the series when it was designed to use a hand held light meter.

If you were using 1960s era film, which had very narrow latitude, the voltage difference might be critical. With today’s wide latitude films, I have used the readily available MS76 1.5v silver oxide cell with excellent results. In addition, the camera carefully before buying. After time, the shutter speeds have been around for more than forty years. Bad things can happen to a camera after all that time, particularly if it has been sitting unused in a closet somewhere. Although the SRTs have reputation for great reliability, always check the camera will work fine without a battery, so you could use a hand held light meter.
