Coolpix Digital Camera

I recieved a coolpix p5000 digital camera for my birthday but it was bought off of ebay from Japan, so the software was unreadable. I tried to register my camera so I could get the program off of the nikon website, but it said the serial number was invalid to North America! So how do I get the program? It would be much apprecitated if someone could help so I could finally manage my pictures

Well I don't know about that but I do know Google has a free one called Picasso. I'm sure it would be compatable w your camera. I use it and it's pretty nice.

Basicallt, I am about to get a new camera, and the kind i have decided on is the Nikon Coolpix series
But there are so many to choose from, and i really can't decide...
does anyone know the best one?

I have two, the 8800 and the P2. The 8800 has been discontinued but you can still find them, and it is a fantastic camera - 8 megapixels, 10X optical zoom, vibration reduction, and excellent macro capabilities. It is as close as you can get to having a digital SLR without having to change lenses!

My P2 is a pocket sized 5 mega pixel "snapshooter" with 3X zoom that I carry in my purse. It's also wireless, and can send the photos to my laptop as I take them and display them in an ongoing slideshow, with the new ones added each time.

Both take excellent quality photos and video and I'm very happy with both purchases.

Camera Model: Nikon Coolpix S4 digital Camera. I checked the brocedure given along with camera, but I didn't find any option in camera to remove red eye. Please help.

The Coolpix S4 has a flash setting for red-eye reduction. In the FLASH Mode Menu, it is the symbol with the lightning bolt and little eye. This setting will give a series of low intensity pre-flashes and the camera also does some in camera processing to remove red-eye before it stores the image.

If this isn't working, try one of the other flash settings or remove it with any good photo manipulation software on your PC.

My roommate is going there in a few weeks and offered to get me something since electronics are a lot cheaper there... I'm wondering how much a digital camera would cost.

I live in China as an ex pat from the USA and my advice is don't buy it here.

For one, you will not save that much

Two, you have no guarantee so if it breaks, are you are willing to send it back to China? Foreign guarantees are not honored in the USA. Places that sell camera's at a hugely reduced rate in the USA that advertise in magazines like popular photography, are brought into the USA from the manufacturer without a USA guarantee. You're really screwed if it breaks.

Three, the instructions will all be in Chinese. While you can download an English instruction manual, nevertheless, the first two reasons should put a stop to you buying.

You will not find a knock off of such an item. If you do you'll be able to tell immediately if it is, it will just feel cheap, really cheap. Its too high tech to be knocked off.

If you want to buy electronics in China, stick to things like MP3 players of good quality, flash drives, things like that. There you can save some money.

I have a field trip tomorrow and i want to take pictures. i have a Nikon Coolpix L100. It's awesome and it's mine. i want to take to my field trip but i don't want to look dorky with it. Everyone else has those little rectangle digital cameras. Will i look weird if i take my camera?

No, I don't think you will look weird. You have a nice camera and you should be proud to own it. Some of those little cutesy cameras look like toys! Yours looks like a camera, which it is. Have fun on your field trip!
