I know this is a vague question but I've been reading mixed reviews.
It would be more helpful if you've actually owned the camera, rather than just giving me a review link. I've already read several reviews.
I've read reviews and t he best brand seems to be Canon or Olympus. Canon seems to make better P&S cams, while Olympus's DSLRs are unbeatable.
I would buy a Canon PowerShot G10 if I were you. They are Superb cameras for around the same price (differs from store to store)
The Nikon COOLPIX P6000 delivers 13.5 megapixels of sharp resolution to capture the finest details, crop creatively and produce beautiful ...
I've tried out a Nikon Coolpix P6000, but I have yet to get a Canon G10 in my hands because they were just released. Eventually I will be getting a Nikon D700 or something similar, but I need a decent quality camera right now - not months from now. Thanks for your help!
The mega pixel thing is somewhat of a concern but the tech behind the sensors is improving so you're not doomed to noisy pics with a 14 or 13.5mp camera. I am going to get a Nikon p6000 because I like the menus and the design better than the LX3 or G10. They all are great p&s cameras but the highest quality will probably come from the Lumix LX3 because of its lens.
As another poster said, if you like to remember where you took a photo, geotagging is quite useful. If you like to upload photos to geotagging websites like Panoramio etc, having an inbuilt GPS, makes it infinitely easier to do so.
There would be no need for a separate GPS unit, ensuring it records tracklogs and syncing them to the photos when you get home.
Also, I guess if your a historian or archeologist or whatever, knowing exactly where you took a photo of an important artifact would be invaluable.
Built-in high definition² close-up optics allow you to transfer slides into digital cameras easily with no loss in quality, and it will actually enhance your pictures!
10 Year Warranty
Digital multi-coating greatly reduces the appearance of lens flare and ghosting caused by reflections
what do you think! Both similar in price range. Both seem good, but would like more opinions. cheers!
I would go with the TZ6
I'd get Canon G10. dpreview.com has comparison pictures on both G10 and P6000 in the Panasonic DMC-LX3 review. G10 performs better in high ISO pictures.

Today we dioscovered a "rumor" about the new Coolpix P6000, possibly being announced formally at the upcoming Photokina show in Germany...
There have been many rumors on the web about upcoming Nikon products such as a D90 and the D3X. We are pretty sure to be seeing a D3x soon, not so sure about a D90. However, we are fairly certain that the Coolpix P6000 is for real and we'll be seeing this announced very soon, most likely at Photokina!
This camera (if released) is Nikons answer to the incredibly successful Canon G9, and successor to Nikons most successful ever Coolpix series the P5000 and P5100. The 28 to 112 mm zoom lens is particularly interesting for uw photographers as is its 6400 ISO.
Of course Fantasea Line is the world's leading manufacturer of Nikon Coolpix housings, so I'm sure that once the P6000 actually hits the market we'll see a follow up release from them about a housing for this bad boy!
