Im looking at buying this new Nikon coolpix p90, could you give me the insight on this camera before i buy it?

I had this camera over night shipped to me, just in time for my daughters wedding on the beach. Excellent pictures and with this optical zoom these photos look professional. As a matter of fact these pictures are every bit as good as the ones taken by the professional photographer at the wedding. The lens lets in light so good that I have only used the flash once to just make sure it works. The software that comes with it allows you to make panoramic pictures which is incredible how it is able to stitch the photos together to make one picture. You can not tell where one photo ends and the next begins. I have already talked a co-worker into purchasing one. Great CAMERA!!!!!

Which of the following cameras takes the best photos and videos the nikon coolpix p90 or the Panasonic DMCFZ28. I am especially bothered about the video quality as I want a camera that will create high quality videos which can be uploaded on to YouTube.

Nikon is a good brand for D-SLR's, but in my opinion, they are not the best at making compacts/superzooms.

Both are very good but I think the Lumix FZ28 is better built and has more features than the P90. Both have their advantages: On the P90, you get 24x zoom rather than the FZ28's 18x, but you would need a tripod in order to steady it very good like there is not shake. On the P90, you cannot zoom while recording, that is a big downside. Also you cannot record HD movies with the P90, only on the FZ28. Also I have heard on the P90, sometimes, the images looked smeared and there is color fringing as well. On the P90 you get a rotatable screen which is an advantage.


In the end, I would go for the Lumix DMC-FZ28 because the image quality is better than the P90 both video and stills. Also you get more features on the FZ28 than on the P90.

Yes, it is possible, but the camera itself is a poor choice for astrophotography. According to what reviews I've read, the camera sensor is noisy at low ISO settings and color quality gets poor at high ISO settings.

If you haven't purchased the camera yet, go with a standard DSLR. Canon's XSi or XTi would be better choice, since there are applications that can override the cameras native 30 second limit (something that Nikon does not readily support.
