Nikon Coolpix S630

My mom gave me this really cool camera, but she apparently lost the manual. I've been able to find other features i was interested in, but i can't seem to find the timer. Does anyone know how to do this?

the manual mentions that the camera continuously refocuses when in macro mode but i hear it refocusing constantly when it's not in macro mode and its a crunchy-shuddering sound. i'm also convinced that it takes crocked pics and i have to tilt the camera to compensate for it. is the sound normal? or should i send it back for a replacement?

i'm looking for a good compact camera. This would be the first time i've had a camera of my own. i'm looking for a camera that takes good crisp photos with nice features. i'm not sure which of the two is better which do you think is?

For point & shoot camera I would suggest Canon and SD990IS is a good model to get.It's not compact size but take good picture quality.

I'm trying to choose a digital camera for myself, and trying to get into some photography just as a hobby to keep myself occupied. This is my first camera, so I'd love to get a really decent camera and get started on experimenting with photography right away!

The Nikon Coolpix is a pretty cool camera. "What digital Camera" gave it the following marks in their review.

Design 19/20
Image Quality 18/20
Performance 16/20
Value 17/20
Features 17/20
Overall 87%

However, the Canon is even cooler looking, cheaper and better as an all rounder. Check out this review that was given by the same people:

I would go for the Canon. "What digital camera" claimed that there were just "Minor issues" with it.
