Nikon Coolpix Touch Screen

I got my cool Nikon coolpix camera and I have to admit it sucks..the picture is grainy...am I just doing something wrong it is suppose to be 10 mega pixels and it doesn't seem that way at all...damn Ashton Kutcher had to look all cute in the commercial...any other experiences with this or am I just camera dumb he he?

There are at least four settings that will affect picture quality.

- Picture size - for Example 3000 by 2000 would be 6 megapixels.

- Compression (sometimes just called quality) - This setting affects the size of the file that is stored on your memory card. - A setting of "fine" will produce better pictures than a setting of "standard" or "basic" - Both compression and picture size affect the size of the file on your memory card and the number of pictures you can save on the card.

- ISO - which represents the low light senstivity of the camera. - Set your camera at 100 or 50 (if it has a 50 setting) for the best possible quality-- 400 or 800 will produce a grainier picture but they will allow you to use a higher shutter speed in low light.

- Zoom setting - Most cameras let in less light when the lens is zoomed to maximum telephoto as compared to wide angle. - Maximum zoom also magnifies any camera shake- On a bight sunny day, this is not very important, but it is important in dim light.

Also pay attention to your shutter speed. Use a tripod or brace your camera against something in low light if you have the opportunity.

One last thing: - More megapixels in a camera is not necessarily better. The sensor in most point and shoot digital cameras is not much bigger than the eraser on the end of a pencil. - More megapixels squeezed into the sensor means the pixels must be smaller, which increases noise. -

I wouldn't get a touch screen camera...

You can't do that with your camera. What you CAN do is to take separate exposures, then combine them in post processing on your computer.

Unless you mean taking several photos in fast succession, like as in burst mode?

In that case, try reading your user manual - it will tell you how to do it (IF you have such a setting).

Does the Nikon Coolpix take good pictures? Is it worth the buy? Is it SLOW to take pictures? I need information about this camera!

Nikon Coolpix S570 is on sale everywhere this Black Friday. I tried this camera at Best Buy before I bought S220 for my wife.


Touch screen is a great feature but I like S220's video feature is about $100 less.

is The nikon s60 a good camera it looks good but im not positive

This is a very good camera, but if you get a scratch on the lens or screen it will definitely. mess up. But all in all its a great camera.
My dad was going to get it for me for x-mas but we'll see about next year.
