Hi friends,
Iam in Chennai, I want to buy a Nikon D100 camera. I want to know about it, the price and where could I get it?
Thanks.
Vasanth!
The new Nikon D100 boasts sophisticated digital image control technology, including superb image quality with 6.1 effective megapixels, an improved image-processing algorithm, and an enhanced Auto White Balance system.
6.1 Megapixel DSLR Camera. Acco to a survey its around Rs. 69999.00 in India. The D100 model is stopped now and now the present new model is D60. Why dont you try that?

I need to remove some spots on my nikon d100 camera, do you know how?
I don't know how similar the D100 is to my D50. My manual says that you have to raise the mirror, then blow the dirt. You cannot use a blower brush because of the risk of scratching the low pass filter. It also recommends this is the kind of thing that you should leave to an authorized Nikon repair center.

Hi! I'm new to the Nikon D100 - bought it used - and have 2 lenses:
Sigma 18-50 mm 1:35.5-5.6 DC D
Tamron Aspherical 28-200 mm 1:3.8 - 5.6
I'm wanting to get some shots of my son's Christmas concert tonight but probably don't have time to read the manual!
What are the best manual settings for a situation or do i just cross my fingers and go auto?
Thanks in advance!
Your users manual won't tell you how to shoot stage shows!
Manual shooting mode is the way to go for stage shooting due to the lighting conditions usually encountered. If you can use a tripod or monopod, do so. You can use your tripod as a monopod if you don't splay the legs out. If you don't have a tripod, then brace your elbows on the arm rests or the back of the seat in front of you. Lens choice will depend on how far you are from the stage, although I think the Tamron will suit you better.
Try starting out with these settings:
ISO: 800. If it's really dark, then 1600. If it's really well lit, you can drop down to 400.
Run the lens wide open (smallest f-stop number)
Adjust the shutter speed to give you a correct exposure, paying attention to the brightest areas that you want to capture faithfully. You don't want to shoot much slower than 1/30 sec to minimize motion blur. If you find that your shutter speed is slower than 1/30 or 1/20, use a higher ISO setting.
White balance: auto may not work. You may need to set the white balance to incandescent or whatever light type is used. Most stages use incandescent lighting.
Use the histogram preview mode. This will show you areas that are overexposed by flashing the overexposed area on your preview screen. Any areas that are important shouldn't be flashing. Glare off a tuba is OK to be overexposed. Use your shutter speed to correct your exposure.
Set your camera to continuous shooting mode. If you hold down the shutter release, it will snap pictures continuously. If you want just one shot, release the shutter button as soon as you press it, being careful not to jerk the camera. At slow shutter speeds, snapping multiple shots in a row gives you a better chance at capturing a non-blurry image or a cute moment.
Turn off the autofocus assist illuminator (might be called AF-assist illuminator in your manual). This is done in the menus section. You don't want this bright light coming on every time you snap a shot. It's really annoying in a theater.
Before the event, be sure to format the memory card using the format function on the camera. This will ensure that you won't run into a strange memory card problem.
Be sure to practice at home. It sucks sitting in the dark figuring out your camera.

Hello! I need a good, wide angle lens that will fit my d100 for doing interior property pictures of homes and businesses. I saw a nikon lens on ebay for 100.00 (cheap, because there is a surplus of them)((its the lens nikon includes with most of there cameras) It is an 18-55. Thanks for any good suggestions! I want to offer good services for my commission! Thanks!
I agree with the others. The 18-55 is a good lens general use lens and quite sharp but it would not cut it indoors. (74 degree field of view)
The tokina 11-16 f2.8 is the best indoor wide-angle lens (104 to 84 degree field of view) and the 12-24 f4 is the best all around lens (99 to 61 degree field of view) but a little slower.
I also need to figure out what part the dirt is on, the sensor is clean, im not sure what all the parts are called, can someone link me to some useful information. I dpnt have a copy of the manual and the nikon website says i have to register to download manual.
Could be the eyeglass, the mirror, the pentaprism, the front element of your lens, the rear element of your lens.
Could also be worse, dust might have gotten inside the camera or lens.
It's easy to register at the website, and you never get spam (I own 5 Nikon cameras and a lot of other gear, I've never gotten email from them).
Also will allow you to download updated software and firmware for the camera, which is a big improvement over the original.
In your case, I'd take the camera (and lens) to an authorised dealer.
Cleaning it yourself if you lack experience and proper tools is tricky (especially the inside like the mirror and prism).
A dealer can do it (or send it out to be done) for not much money (certainly a lot less than it costs to have it repaired if you try it yourself and damage something).
You'll get it back sparkling clean and they can at the same time give it a quick checkup to fasten any loose screws and things like that (just like a small service for your car really, you should get it done every few years).

upgrade my six megapixel Nikon D100 to the newer and much better Nikon D300 or the Nikon D3. I’m not saying that those who purchased the D100 back then made a mistake by any means. It is a great camera. What I’m saying is that for me, purchasing it would have been a mistake because I would not have used the additional features that the D50 does not have. You can spend around $500 and get a great beginner camera that will enable you to learn the fundamental principles of photography. And the best part about buying a entry-level camera is that you generally don’t sacrifice much at all on the most important aspect of photography, the picture quality. I have seen amazing prints from both introductory-level digital SLR’s and pro-level cameras and many times I cannot tell the different....News
