My Nikon D200 was stolen, which I loved a lot, and now I am looking to replace it. The D200 was discontinued, but perhaps I can still buy it. The D300 is a little more than I want to spend on a camera. The D90 and D3000 seems like a good step down, but am I wrong? They are smaller and a lot cheaper than the D200. So I am confused. Which Nikon camera is equivalent or slightly better than the Nikon D200? Your help is greatly appreciated.
I'm not too familiar with Nikon, but the D300 is definitely a major upgrade from the D200, I would go as far as saying it was a fairly revolutionary step up. The D90 is a nice camera with some HD video capture capabilities, and I would set it fairly level with the D90. I'm not familiar with the D3000, if you mean the D5000, then it's below the D90 (the D5000 as I'm aware is an upgrade for the D60).
One of the main differences is that the D5000 does not include an in-body AF motor. So if you have some older non-AF lenses, I'd recommend either the D90 or the D300. But I think you can still find the D200 on the used market.
Also, available on the used market, you could try looking into a D2X (though I'd still say the D300 has a definite edge over the D2X).
A quick view on the Nikon D200 & D2H
Press the small button on the top panel on the left side (near 'QUAL' button, above the place where D200 is printed)) and turn the wheel below the QUAL/WB/ISO button clockwise till you reach the timer symbol (between CH and Mup). You'll be in timer mode. The next photo will be clicked with the timer.
You can change the time duration of the timer using 'c4' function in the custom setting menu.
Read your instruction manual for more details.

Can anyone tell me how to use the self timer on the Nikon D200? I can find the option to change the length of time before the camera takes the photo in self timer mode, but cant find the self timer itself! Thanks in advance.
Command dial on the left. There is a round disc like wheel under the ISO control button. Hold down the wheel release and spin that to the timer icon.
he told me that if i buy d3 ,my existing lens 80-400mm and 28-70mm will not work with d3, can you share some light on this,
Your friend is wrong
First the D3 can use DX lens in DX mode When a DX lens is attached to the camera it will automatically choose DX mode.
Second the 80- 400, and 28-70 is not a DX lens.
Here's a image taken with a 80-400 on a D3.
