Buying Used Nikon D300 what you think?

I'm looking to buy a Used Nikon D300 BODY only for $1100 .

What you think ? Good camera Good price ?

Can I find a cheaper one ?

Thanks
I'm Buying it cash there is no return policy .

Personally, I think you would be better off with a new D90 than a used D300. The measurable results are amazingly similar for these 2 cameras. In fact the D90 scores higher. Check out this comparison.

Nikon D80 or Nikon D300?

hey, i just bought a Nikon D80 with a Nikkor 18-70, lens. I love this camera thus far especially as my first SLR. But I bought it slightly used [both body and lens] for $700. Should i sell it for $700-$800 [i may have a buyer if i do decide to sell it] and get a Nikon D300? I saw a NEW Nikon D300 [body only] for only $799.99. It's not a refurb or anything, authentically new. What do you suggest? Is my Nikon D80 good enough, or should I just go for the Nikon D300?

That's gotta be a typo! That camera is more like $1799. If it is actually for $799, which I doubt, it must be gray market and will have no warranty or support from Nikon at all!..

I am in the market for a DSLR and would like to acquire opinions about the Canon 40d and the Nikon D300?

If given the choice to purchase the Canon 40D and the soon to be released Nikon D300 which one would you favor and why? I know the 40D(body only) goes for $1300 and the Nikon D300 (body only) will go for $1700. Overall, are Canon lenses(L series) a better long term usage investment better than the Nikon seies of lenses. I believe Canon offers a larger selection of lenses, but are they better than the Nikon series of lenses or are they pretty much equal in quality?

The Canon folks will say Canon, and the Nikon folks will say Nikon..

Think beyond the initial purchase of the camera, think about the whole system you will be buing into... the availablity of "glass" lenses and accessories, which will suit your needs the best... .then...

go to a camera shop, and play with the various cameras... put different lenses on the cameras try those out... and see which fits you the best....

both Canon and Nikon cameras are excellent... but it's up to you, which feels best for you... dpreview will give you side by side comparisons of both to help you decide.

Should I upgrade from Nikon D40 to D90 or D300 or stick with D40 & get a better lens?

Hey Guys,

So I've had my D40 for nearly 2 years now. It all started as a hobby and now I'm starting to make a bit of money on the side, so I want to get a better gear set up. I love my D40 but it does have its limitations.

I've also been working with a new modeling agency who is just starting up and doing their models' portfolio. They've got a pro photographer and I'll be the assistant photographer or I'll be doing the jobs for the smaller clients. When they start getting more clients, I'll start getting a bit more money. The photos I'll be doing will most likely be portraits but I will also do some commercial photography such as taking photos for companies to use for their marketing and advertisements.

So my question is, should I upgrade my camera or should I stick with the D40 and just save up to buy Nikon 24-70mm f2.8 lens? I think the 24-70 is going for around AU$2,500.

If upgrading, I'm thinking of getting the D90 or D300. The D300 is nearly half of the price of D300. It's around $1600 and at the moment until end of Sep they've got a $200 cash back on D90 so it'll be around $1400. The D300 is around $2500 but I think there's very little stock since the D300S is out and is $500 more than the D300.

Also the lenses that I have currently are kit lenses 18-55mm & 55-200mm, 50mm f1.8 and 55mm f3.5 AI macro lens. I've also got a Vivitar flash and SB-600, a tripod and a 5-in-1 reflector.

So, which upgrade should I go for: the D90 plus a lens (possibly Nikon 85mm f1.8), D300 (body only) or stick with D40 but buy 24-70mm f2.8 lens?

Also, I know there's been a lot of post about D90 vs D300 which I've read, but I'm still undecided. The only differences between D90 & D300 is the build quality, faster FPS, and more focus points. The sensor & MP & ISO quality are the same from what I've read. So I just want to get more advice before making a decision.

Thanks in Advance.

Well what a predicament to have :)

I'd keep the D40 no matter what. I have put some time and thought into your question.... I have came to believe the best bet is to get the D90 over the 300. The stats are close but the prices are not. The features for what you will be shooting you can save the money for the additional lens.

Another factor is your statement about how you came to where you are today. It was a hobby, (I hope still is) and now your making money at it. So as everything has evolved so should your camera body. You don't have to take a great jump to evolve, but you must make at least a movement in the direction.

Good Luck, and keep shooting.

Nikon D300 NEW for $799.99?

hey everyone, i'm just wondering if this is a legit website to buy this D300 body for $799.99 new [body only]

"If it's too good to be true, it probably is."

A $700 discount from a small time, suspicious retailer would probably qualify it for the "too good to be true" part. Subsequently, "it probably is."
