Presently, the F6, the D3 and some high-end lenses and specialty products (i.e. the SP/S3 reissues) are made at the Sendai plant in Japan. All other products are made at the Thailand plant.
All the D300 bodies made in Thailand prior to release and stockpiled had to pass back through Japan, where they got a firmware upgrade to the production version.

If you just want one lens, the 18-200 mm VR will do it.
If you are into landscapes, the 12-24 mm is a killer lens
If you are into shooting close-ups, then the 105 mm VR will be a great choice.

I want to buy a Nikon D40 camera, and my dad owns a Nikon D300, so I was wondering if I had to buy my own charger or if I could just use his, at least for now?
If you buy the D40 kit, it comes with one lens, (probably the 18-55mm VR lens), a battery, a battery charger, a strap, all cords needed for viewing on TV or downloading to Computer, a disc for programs to download. You may have to purchase a card for the camera...depends on where you purchase it. Here, the D40 kit sells for about 450.00 or less. A full manual in several languages comes with the camera. Good luck.
I'm looking to buy a DSLR for my photography class next year, and was wandering which camera would be best for me. I'm looking at £600 max, and i'm a first time user with any DSLR cameras. I quite like the look of the new Nikon D300, is this camera right for me?
Thankyouuu (:
Try holding the D300 in your hand and get a feel of it. Try to reach the various buttons and settings. Mount the lens that you intend to buy and see how it feels with D300 in your hands.
The camera has to be comfortable and easy to use. Remember good photographs are made by people and not by the camera on its own.
Since you are just starting with photography, I suggest buying a cheaper model. You can then buy good lens.
I always advocate buying the lens first and then a body with the remaining money.

Canon EOS 7D 18 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 3-inch LCD and 28 ...
Well after much deliberation between this and a 5d Mark II i decided to opt for the 7D and spend the extra I save on some nice wide angle lenses. First of all for anyone who is expecting a 1.6 crop camera’s image quality to be better than the 5d mark ii you can forget it. The 5D mark ii is a full frame sensor camera and the 7D is a crop, different cameras for different purposes. I know three people who own a 5d mark II, wedding photographer, cinematographer and a landscape photographer. As you can tell, they all need wide angle and good low light performance. The 5D Mark II/other full frame cameras are targeted towards users with wide angle needs. So if you find yourself in a crowded room with little light during a wedding the EOS 7D may not be for you, less you put on a 10-22mm EFS lens which is the widest lens for a APS-C camera.
Image Quality from this camera is amazing, I’ll put up some pictures once it stops raining where I live. Detail is very good, and the 28-135 lens accommodates this cameras ability very nicely, however, starting off at 28mm will probably be too long for most people in everyday situations such as those for street photographers. Picking up a 17-55 2.8 lens will probably be highly recommended by many.
