Nikon D40 - does it include a battery charger?
Project 365 - Day 302 - 04/05/09

I'm looking at a Nikon D40 package on amazon to surprise my fiance with. The page says it includes manufacturer's supplied accessories. What do these include? Most importantly do they include a batter charger? Thanks!

If it doesn't it would be a rip-off (which I doubt from Amazon)

It will include battery, charger, strap, USB cable, CD, and instructions.

Memory cards & cases aren't included in Nikon's stock kits.

Nikon D40 battery change?

Okay, so I have a Nikon D40. Heres the situation described briefly:

- Battery power was almost empty so I took it out
- Inserted it into charging cartidge thing
- The orange light on my charger stayed lit, indicating that the battery should have been FULLY charged
- Take battery out of charger and inserted battery into camera and switch it on
- Camera briefly turns on only to go blank because there is "low battery" power

What does this mean? Do you think I have to change my battery (buy a new one), buy a new charger, or do you think the camera itself is the problem here?

I personally think its the battery. By the way, the battery I am talking about is NOT a AA or AAA or whatever. Its an actual Li-ion En-El9 battery pack made specifically for Nikon D40's (what I have) or D60's.

Anyways, anyone who might have experienced something like this or maybe can pin point a problem that I wasnt aware of myself, just let me know what you think!
I'm desperate as to what the friggn problem is!...

A new battery from Nikon's website is 50 dollars. And then to ship it to where I live costs another 50 dollars, no lie. No shops on this little tiny island of mine seems to sell a Nikon battery seperate, if any at all.

Thanks for reading and answering, if you do.
My charger light is orange and always has been. It never changes green just to let you know for those who are saying THEIR charger light turns green. Mine is just orange.

I've had this camera for about a year.

can battery of nikon d40 bought in usa be charged using the USA charger in UK sockets?

charger unit is rated 120volts

Check the label on your charging unit, under the heading of "input"

It should list a voltage input in AC, typically 110-240 VAC (that's volts AC). If it says that, then your charger can handle UK voltage and you just need an plug adapter on the end. If it says something different (like 110-120 VAC), then you'll need a transformer to move the 220v UK voltage to 120 volts US voltage.

I will be traveling to Europe soon, Do I need a new cord for my Nikon Quick Charger MH-23?

Okay, I have a Nikon D40. It came with a MH-23 Charger for the EN-EL9 Battery. The cord says "US" on top the, and "125V 7A" on the bottom.

It's my understanding that the charger itself will be fine. It does say 100-240v on the back, however I am unsure if I will need a new cord.

I also have the US to Euro adapter.

Thanks so much!

You should be fine. I've used those cords in Europe with no problems. All you need is the adapter that looks like this: http://www.laptoptravel.com/images/produ ct_images/EEUR011l.gif , which you said you already have, so you're all set.

LEM.
