Nikon D40 digital SLR I would like to know how big the screen on the back is and other features of the camera?

Where can I get the best deal for this in maryland??? and any complaints about this camera such as pros and cons are welcome. Is this camera able to shoot in rapid sucession??? because I know the canon non digital 35millimeter k2 cant really do this that fast????

Try Penn Camera. They have several locations in MD and DC, Lutherville, Pikesville, Laurel, Washington, and Tysons Corner.

As far as the Nikon D40 goes it has a 2.5 inch LCD screen (not Live View) you need to compose through the viewfinder.
I believe it can shoot up to 2.5 frames per second. Canon K2 1.5 Frames per second. Canon Rebel XTi 3 frames per second.

If you already have a Canon film camera I would stick with Canon because your lenses will work on the digital. There is no sense in switching brands if you have lenses. The lenses will last much longer than the camera body and are more important.

Do you know any place in Singapore where you can buy Nikon D40 digital SLR camera?

I need it for my school photography club. I know it's quite costly but I don't know the exact price.
Can you please provide me with the info on its price and also where to buy?

Try Sim Lim shops with "Star Retailer" logo for cheap bargains. You might also want to consider Funan IT Mall. Otherwise, go to Nikon authorised dealers. Conveniently, you may get it at Courts, Best Denki etc.

You might consider having various lenses for you shooting needs. Of course, the camera comes equipped with Kit lens which might be crappy. Invest a little bit more in higher focal range and can take wide-angle or macro, depending on your interest.

Retail price: SGD 998 (you can get cheaper at Sim Lim)

Cheers =p

Is a Nikon D40 Digital SLR Camera good?

does anyone have anything to say about this camera. I want to buy it for my gf for christmas because Consumer Reports said it was the best buy, but I know nothing about cameras.

Depends on the experience of your GF. If she's an accomplished photographer and/or has a bunch of lenses in the closet, the D40 wouldn't be the best choice. If she has old lenses, then you should investigate getting a camera body which will fit the lenses. Glass is expensive! If she's an accomplished photographer, she might be better off with a slightly more advanced camera body.

If she likes taking pictures for fun/enjoyment, then the D40 is a great choice. I really enjoy mine. If she doesn't print pictures larger than 8x10, the 6Mpixel D40 is perfectly good. Otherwise, you may consider the D40X. My only gripe about the D40 is the exposure tends to blow out the highlights. This is easily corrected if you shoot in Program mode and provide an EV correction of -2/3 or -1/3.

Check out Ken Rockwell's site. He has a lot to say about the D40 and other cameras. He also has a very nice guide on setting up the camera.

Be sure to get a 2 GB, or larger, memory card. She'll need it.

  • Cannon Cannon Rebel SLR XTI EOS 10.1 Mp Review

Hey professional Photographers, are you looking for a top of the line SLR camera do u your photos with? Well let me recommend you to my Canon Rebel XTi digital camera. I've had this camera for almost a year now used it for my classes, & it works like a charm. I was able to do modelin pics for my site, & not only that but with cannon its alot cheaper to buy accessories with this brand than Nikon camera's. This camera is loaded with lots of features, here are a few. This item first of all has a bulit in optional flash ON/OFF,  has a adjustable digitied F stops & ISO 100 -1600,  instant removalbe red eye, 10 SEC TIMER,  PORTRAITS, SPORTS , STOP MOTION, LANDSCAPE, OPTIONAL BLACK & WHITE PHOTOGRAPHY, NIGHT SHOTS, REMOVEABLE ZOOM LENS, STRAP ETC. IN ADDITION, THIS PARTICULAR MODE COMES WITH VIDEO OUTPUT SO U CAN MAKE SLIDESHOWS. The only hassle there is that this camera requires a CF CARD. For $600, its worth it!
