Nikon D5000 Battery

The charger should have a indicator light to let you know when the battery is done. Below I listed a link to a page on Nikon's website on the charger for the D5000.

Here is an excerpt from it: "Can fully recharge an exhausted EN-EL-3. EN-EL3a or EN-EL3e battery in approximately 120 minutes."

If you have one of these cameras you need to get it checked out - its important - the batteries are causing some serious problems!!! Nikon is recalling the batteries so if you have one get it checked!!!

It's not a battery problem, but a recall of certain D5000 bodies. Nikon will repair and return the cameras within 2 days at no cost to owners of the cameras in question. Here's the Service Advisory.

Yes, since the D5000 uses a compatible battery with the same charging contacts. The D40, D40x, and D60 all share the EN-EL9 battery, while the D5000 uses the EN-EL9a. I've used the same charger for my D50,D70, & D200, even though they use progressively more advanced batteries.

I have for a while been wanting a decent D-SLR Camera and have found the Nikon D5000 and I think that its the one, but I'm just wondering does anyone have it, and if they do, is it a good camera? Also when you buy one online are Nikon batteries included?

I was wondering if the Nikon D5000 kit on Amazon comes with everything (neckstrap, TV cable, 18-55 lens, battery, battery charger, etc.) like if I was to buy it off of Nikon. It doesn't say it has all those things but I was wondering if it did and just didn't list it.

Yes, it will come with everything. The body, lens, strap, charger, battery, and the other extras will all be in the box.
