Nikon D60 Battery

i just got it and im anxious to use the camera already....

Batteries with brands other than Nikon are cheap, about 1/3 of the price of an original EL-EN9 Li-on Nikon. Will it spoil my beloved D60 if I use it?

I think a non-Nikon battery will work just as well but just like Cat Lover, I won't take the risk. I, too, have a Nikon D60 and I got a spare Nikon battery with it.

By the way, you got the letters mixed up. The battery for the Nikon D60 should be EN-EL9.

Recently I purchased the Nikon D60 SLR camera and I didn't get an extra battery because Nikon says you can take up to 500 pictures with the battery that came with it. What do you think? Should I get a spare?

I will be rare that you will find yourself shooting more than 250 shots at a time, let alone 500.

Just do what the pros do .. charge your battery the night before you are going to be shooting.

I want to make sure I have enough shooting power for tomorrow, because there are only 2 (out of 3) cells left. Will I hurt the battery life in the long run if I charge it at this point without fully using up the battery?

You can recharge your Lithium battery at any time. Just do it...

Charge your battery whenever you return from your photography session (if it's over 90% charged, don't bother to charge it). The battery life will be actually prolonged. There's no memory effect in this battery and so you don't have to drain it completely.
