I recently bought a Nikon d60 and LOOOVVVEEE it! I'm new to dslr so I'm still figuring things out so I've been messing around with the settings a lot. I did something to make info about each photo display over the photo when I try to look at them and I want to get rid of this feature. I try resetting it, but it didn't change this feature. Anyone know how to stop this from happening. I can't even see my photos!
I figured it out! I had the image review set wrong, Thanks!
Just use your 4-way button and move away from that screen. Or if you accidently pushed the "key" button, just press it again.

hey i have a nikon D60 its pritty good just a question about the battery when i charge it is the red light suppose to blink
thanks
Yes, the red light is supposed to blink. That means the battery is in the process of charging. Once the battery is fully charged the light will be solid on.

Im thinking about upgrading to a digital slr camera. Currently I have a point and shoot Kodak, but have played around with my brothers cannon rebel and like it.I have researched the Nikon D60 and think that its the one i want. the one thing that I heard on one of the reviews is that the camera does not have an auto focus function. is this true and if it is how hard is it to manually focus a camera?
The camera DOES have an autofocus function. IF you don't have a drawer full of older Nikon lenses, this will not be an issue for you. Besides, manual focus is not very difficult anyway.
I hate to see people slam the camera because it can't autofocus with older Nikon lenses. It is true that there is a "slight problem" with older Nikon lenses not autofocusing on the D40, but if you do not own a bag full of older lenses, it is not going to be a problem. It is barely a problem anyhow. If you check www.nikonusa.com for "AF-S" lenses, which are ALL 100% compatible with the D40, you will find 28 lenses, including 13 "VR" (vibration Reduction) lenses and one true macro lens with "VR". There are another 25-plus lenses in the current catalog that provide all functions except autofocus as well as many (possibly dozens) "out of print" lenses that will work just as well. In addition, although these lens will not autofocus, most of them will still give focus confirmation. From the D40 manual: "If the lens has a maximum aperture of f/5.6 of faster, the viewfinder focus indicator can be used to confirm whether the portion of the subject in the selected focus area is in focus. After positioning the subject in the active focus area, press the shutter release button halfway and rotate the lens focusing ring until the in-focus indicator is displayed." Does D60 work with older lens that can do auto focus? I know D40x/D40x auto focus only work in DX lens, but does D60 has build in auto focus motor?
No, it'll only autofocus with AF-S lenses, just like the D40/D40x
The D60 is merely a $470 D40 with a few more card-clogging pixels, a VR lens and adaptive dynamic range, but a slower maximum shutter speed with flash and half the light sensitivity (base ISO is only ISO 100, not the faster ISO 200 of the D40), for $300 more than the D40.
I was just wondering how to make a light painting with a Nikon d60, I have little camera experience and do not know much about cameras, so you might have to walk me through it a little.
You need a few things first.
-Tripod
-Remote (optional)
-Camera & Lens
-Light Source (be creative here)
-Night Time or a very dark room/studio.
Set the camera up on the tripod and point in a direction where there is very little light. I would suggest tunnels, underpasses, etc. Just as long as it is dark, it will work. Set the camera up so you can take an extend exposure. I usually use the manual mode. For the first time, just take 30 sec exposures. You'll want the aperture to be about f/5.6 but you can use f/8 or smaller if you care to do so.
You can use the remote to set off the shutter or just press it yourself. I would suggest using the timer function so you can get to wear you want to start by the time the shutter opens. Once the shutter is open, use your light source to do whatever you want. Make shapes, lines, letters, numbers, paths, whatever. Experimenting is important. Be creative and search out other light painters (flickr is a good place to start).
Good light sources are LEDs, flash lights, sparklers, fireworks (be safe of course), glowsticks, etc.
