I want to buy a Nikon D90 camera. I noticed the price for d90 body is about $900, and the price for d90 kit is around $1200. Please tell me what the difference between Nikon D90 Body and Nikon D90 Kit is? Thanks
As mentioned, the "body only" item is the camera body, battery/charger, documentation, body cap and strap alone. There is no lens included. The "kit" adds at least one lens, probably the 18-105mm zoom based on the price you've mentioned. If you don't already own one or more Nikon lenses, you should consider the kit as a starting. If you know you'll purchase a better lens like the 17-55mm f/2.8, you can simply elect to buy a separate lens and buy the body alone.
This is the unboxing of the Nikon D90 body only unboxing, recorded with my Canon M306 camcorder.
I'm going to be buying a Nikon very soon But I just want the body only, don't need the kit cause I'm going to be buying a lens. I've seen them for about $999 body only but this site has it for $339. That would be great! but do you think it's a trusted site?
Nope it is a complete scam. If you ever do get the camera which I doubt it wont have the batteries, charger, software, cables or straps.
Check out the dealer at the link below. They are a good site that gives reviews on various dealers.

If you want to buy online I recommend B&H Photo, Adorama or Amazon.

Forgive my ignorance, I'm a complete camera numpty. I'm considering buying a better camera body as a surprise for someone who has a D50. Would all of his gadgets etc work on the newer model?
In general, yes! Although some minor accessories may not be compatible. I don't think that the remote shutter release, for example, will work. However, the lenses and the flashes WILL work, and those are the most important things, right?
Rear Lens Cover: To cover the back end of the lens after it has been removed from the camera
Camera Body Cap: To cover the camera body when there is no lens attached

if $999 is the price for the body only, than how much more should i be planning to invest for the lens?
sorry first cammera like thins, i want it to last. does anyone have any other suggestions on which cammera i should buy?
That price is for the body only.
I checked at B&H ( http://www.bhphotovideo.com ) and found the following:
Nikon D90 w/18-105mm VR lens $1149.95
Nikon D90 w/18-200mm VR lens $1579.95
I also looked at Adorama ( http://www.adorama.com ) and found this deal:
Nikon D90 w/18-105mm VR lens and 70-300mm VR lens $1,589.95
i wonder if it's effect / ruin the electronic contact at the hotshoe if i use the canon flash on the Nikon Body. I want to use the Canon 380ex ETTL on the NIkon d90 body
Nikons are very fussy about the flash. Although another brand may fit on the hot shoe and fire, I've seen many flashes (and a few Nikon cameras) die because of incompatible equipment. On one Nikon, the flash tube broke with a nasty crack (this was an old nikon flash on a new Nikon camera), on another, an old film camera, the shutter popped when the flash went off and the camera was dead. On a third, both pieces of gear stopped working and could not be revived. I really don't know what happened - just that the equipment no longer functioned. Just because you can do something does not mean you should.
The power the old flashes pull is way too much for the digital. Play it safe and use a Nikon flash on a Nikon camera. Also wein adapters are your friends - especially in digital. The camera can only tolerate so much voltage (and at 6:25 am I can't tell you how much) but the flash pulls more - blows out the shutter.
Spend a few extra bucks on the flash and save the camera.

Nikon D90 Body Only - £607.98 deliverd, £547.98 after Nikon ...
Nikon have just introduced a £60 cashback offer for both the D90 and £50 on the D5000 which makes this deal from Camerabox really good value for the excellent D90. Annoyingly I've just bought a D90 on Wednesday so I'll miss out on this but hopefully it'll be good for someone else.
Cashback site is here: http://www.nikon.co.uk/sites/cashback/offers_chooser.html
Oh, and you can find the camera itself cheaper but this was the cheapest place I found that I was sure wouldn't be a grey import unit and they also include a two year warranty as standard.
