Olympus Camera 35mm

This is my first digital Slr camera and I have read somewhere 35mm Slr camera lenses interchange if the same make? Can anyone tell me if this is correct?

yes you can fit olympus OM40 lenses via olympus OM lense adapter for e.g E1...E3...E510...E500...E400 ETC can be found on ebay...but you won't have auto focus and prob not all metering modes best to check that out...hope this is helpful :)

i study a level photography and had the option to buy a 35mm camera or use one of the schools. I was told that charity shops are good places to look for them.
After being unsucessfull looking a couple times i found a Olympus is-1000 camera for £37.
I was just wondering if this was a good price?
if its a good camrera?
Also does it take good photos. they will be developed in black and white not colour.

That depends. It is a good quality early version of an auto-focus camera that will let you have an inexpensive camera with excellent optics. If you are looking for something to use for one or two courses that focus on the process of film photography it should be quite good.

On the other hand if the course instructor is suggesting that you use a camera with interchangeable lenses I would suggest a manual focus 35mm such as Minolta SRT-###, Olympus OM-## or Pentax K1###. All of these cameras are older, are readily available in thrift stores or shops that sell used cameras, inexpensive, primarily mechanical construction and will provide all the manual controls to learn about shutter speeds, aperture and manual camera operation.

Anyone know where I can get a Olympus XA or XA2 35mm camera w/ flash cheap in the Los Angeles area? Ebay is a bit pricey and no luck so far in the thrift shops....

Check craigslist for your area. Check newspaper ads. Call local camera stores and ask if they carry used cameras.

Your only choice may be to buy on ebay.

advance lever won't move more than half way and advance spool won't move either.

advance lever won't move more than half way and advance spool won't move either. it happened midway through a roll of film and would not advance anymore. I rewound the roll and took it out and it still will not advance.

You cannot ... the gearing within the film advance and shutter cocking lever is damaged ... somewhere along the line someone forced the advance lever and caused some damage.

You will need to take the camera into a repair shop that can repair Olympus cameras
