Olympus Digital Camera Tough

Olympus Stylus Tough-8000 Review? Did anybody try that digital camera? I consider buying the Olympus Stylus Tough-8000 but I think I have to read some opinions first.

I thought i lost my digital camera, (an olympus stylus tough) but i found it in a glove compartment and its been there since like august and its been close to -10 celsius the last couple weeks. It doesnt turn on and do you think it's the battery or is the camera just done in for good.

It's really likely to be the battery. Batteries lose their charge really fast in the cold.

Also if you brought it from -10C to a warm room immediately you probably got a bunch of water condensation onto it, which will lead to problems.

ive had a look at the olympus mju cameras but have no idea which is best.
i just want it for everyday snaps, pictures of parties, holidays and friends for memories, and also it would be good if it did video.

The cameras that are waterproof list how deep they are certified to dive without damage or damaging the camera.

You need to look at the specifications on each camera. One to three meters are common limits

I'm looking at the Olympus Stylus tough-600 with tap control. How well do these cameras work. I went to Best Buy and played with one and i really like it. The girl at Best Buy said they don't work well in low light and they don't recover from a shot as fast as Cannon or Sony. Is this true, how well do they work.

In this area I'm pretty much MrSony but I actually like the Olympus compacts.

Olympus compacts work as well in low light as any of current compacts (the as yet unreleased Sony's are supposed to be far better in low light and as Nikon use Sony sensors they'll probably follow soon too), and the flash recharge time is not significantly worse than the average for a compact.

The killer feature of most of the Olympus range is their "show me how" feature that sets up both YOU and the camera to take specific types of shots. There is no better hand holding capability on any camera I've seen. Oh and the fact that the camera is literally tough!

If you are sure the camera has the features you want I'd go for it!

So i am looking for a new camera and i know that i want one of the stylus tough waterproof/shockproof/freezeproof cameras. I am not a huge photographer i just want it for everyday pictures and stuff but i dont want the pictures to be blurry. I want a good quality camera, but no more than $ 300. which one?

Definitely the 1050, 6000 or 8000 because those are the ones that have Image Stabilization which you will definitely want especially if you plan to use it underwater. Swimming or snorkling and taking still pictures is very difficult because of the light fall off in the water and your own movements. Using IS is really helpful.
