What lenses you own are very good (for Olympus E-420)?

What lenses you own are very good (for Olympus E-420)? Not over 1000 dollar lens please...

I am doing researching on what camera I should get. I also have to research the lenses since kit lenses are not good. So the budget for the camera should also include the price for lenses.

As I said in your question about Canon the kit lenses are not that bad. They are in fact pretty good for most things. Olympus has far fewer choices than Canon does but the same applies. Good lenses will cost you a good amount of money. Unless you are prepared to spend more on a lens than the camera costs stick with the kit lens and pick a telephoto zoom as well. Some good choices for the Olympus would be

18-180 $450. This would be more of an all in one lens.

40-150mm $250

70-300mm $360

All other lenses will cost much more than your budget

Can i get Lenses for the Olympus E-420 of similar quality to Canon L series lenses?

Or is there anything available close to the L series Quality?

Olympus sells Four-Thirds lenses in three categories: Super High Grade (SHG), High Grade (HG), and Standard.
http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_sectio n/lens/dea/products/lens/index.asp

High Grade lenses alone are probably good enough to match up with some of Canon's Luxury lenses. The excellent Zuiko Digital ED 12-60mm f/2.8-4.0 and 50mm f/2 Macro have been highly praised by reviewers while the 50-200mm and 11-22mm have gotten their fair share of attention as well amongst the community as well.

The Super High Grade lineup contains some of the fastest and sharpest zoom lenses around and every one of these lenses are as exceptional as they are expensive. They are practically second to none so I doubt any lens in this category will have trouble holding its own in a comparison with equivalent Canon L glass -- except in price.

Olympus does have a smaller selection, but most of the common focal length range is covered by one zoom or another.

what is s better camera coolpix p90 or olympus e 420?

I am looking into cameras because i've outgrown my coolpix l11 what do think is a better camera?

The 420 is a "real" camera. Like the other guys said the p90 is a point and shoot, it has much less control. If nothing else, a quick shutter and manual focus are what you need to have the chance to take good photos, and the 420 DSLR has that.

If you like the Olympus go with that. I have the 520 and it does what I need it to do. Look on flickr or photobucket at what people have done with it (http://www.flickr.com/cameras/olympus/e- 420/). If you like it then go ahead.

Cameras have a personality, color spread, dynamic range, tonal quality etc. All DLSRs under $1000 are basically the same. Just look at the personality of the pictures it makes and the features it has. Don't let people talk you into a brand. It's like peer pressure. We are all a little loyal to to brand we use, but Canon and Nikon people get nutty about it.

Olympus E-420 Digital SLR camera...?

does it have like, a macro setting? i love doing extreme close-ups and stuff like that. will they come out with clarity and detail? i am thinking of buying it, but is it only good for landscape and scenery pictures?

thanks!

The E-420 does have a macro setting, along with several others. This preset will allow you to get macro shots with a regular lens by automatically setting the camera for optimal results. However, for best results, you should use a dedicated macro lens such as the 35mm macro lens from Olympus. I use an E-510 and have gotten some good macro shots with the 14-42mm kit lens and my 25mm prime lens.

You can follow the link to the Olympus website and view the manual online. Or you can look on page 4 & 5 of your manual for a list and description of the various shooting modes the camera has.

How do I take panorama shots with my Olympus E-420?

help! i have an xd memory card already. i can take pictures in panorama mode, but i can't figure out how to blend them together.

Panoramas are stitched outside of the camera. You can use Olympus' software which will use images from your camera taken in panorama mode to create a panorama. I'm not sure what your camera does in panorama mode to make it so special.

If you want to create good panoramas, I suggest using something like Hugin. Hugin is free and does an excellent job of creating panoramas, even from crappy source material. Hugin is much better than some expensive stitching programs I've seen.
http://hugin.sourceforge.net/

Using Hugin, you don't need to take pictures in panorama mode.
The normal workflow is take images that overlap by at least 30%. This allows the program to correct lens distortion and vignetting. A tripod is handy, but not necessary. You'll want to pivot your camera at the entrance pupil of your lens which is somewhere along your lens barrel, not at the sensor plane, to minimize parallax error. Hugin uses enblend which is pretty smart about correcting parallax issues. You can use the tripod mount as the pivot point, but it won't be quite right, especially with close objects.

Best to shoot in manual mode, including focus. You want to keep exposures between shots all the same. Hugin will actually make decent panoramas from fully automatic settings, even if your exposures vary from image to image. You get better results if you shoot manual.

Bring the image set into Hugin. Hugin will create a beautiful pano with very little futzing about.

  • 2.7″ inch LCD Screen Protector for Digital Camera – Casio Exilim ...

I honestly was very excited to get the screen protector. I bought 2 for myself and 2 for someone else. I am very happy with the speed of shipping from the company. I’m not pleased with the item. There is a tab you are supposed to pull off the protector after you place it on the camera. The tab does not pull off very easily. It is like removing a sticker on the bottom of a glass. You have to keep picking at it to get it off. I have given up on picking at it. I think I might take the protector off because I can’t seem to remove the sticky stuff. Also I could not remove the bubbles. I tried several times to reapply the thing with no luck. I had an easier time with the protector for the nintendo DS.
