Why won't the mirror in my camera come down? (Olympus OM-4)?
Angustia- Preocupación..?

The mirror is stuck upward. When I take off the lense, I can pull the lever and it brings down the mirror, but when I take a picture, It stays up and I can't advance the film.(the film won't advance period...ever)

Could have flat batteries. Replace the batteries and see if the problem persists.

35mm Olympus OM-1 Film camera and how to load and use it guide.

a 30+ Years old vintage Olympus OM series OM-1 Analogue film non-digital SLR single lens reflex 35mm film camera and how to load the Dixons 35mm ...

what lens would be better for taking pictures of my family & house ? with an Olympus OM-4 a 75-150mm or 200mm?
the flavor of history..Sabor a historia...

75 is better. A larger or longer lens will be too close and will shake more.

Nikon FE vs. Minolta X-700 vs. Olympus OM-2/OM-4?

i've narrowed it down to the nikon and the minolta;maybe the olympus.
which is better?which has more features?which has the best lense?which takes more lenses?
i'd like something that would grow as my needs grow.
a list or explanation of what they could do or why i should choose that specific camera over the others would be more than appreciated.
typo,i meant the Nikon FE2,not the FE.

Only the Nikon will give you a system approach that is currently supported. It will allow you to acquire both lenses and accessories for this camera that will still function with later film and digital bodies.

There will be limitations with this. If you upgrade the body, you may not be able to use all the newer body functionality with the earlier lenses and accessories.

The FE2 and OM4 are similar generation cameras (early 1980's). The OM2 is a generation earlier, and X-700 a generation later.

Other than the Nikon, you might want to think about any of the Pentax K mount bodies. These include bodies from Asahi (Pentax), Ricoh, Cosina, Sears etc. Some of these are re-badged Ricoh, others re-badged Cosina. They give access to the range of Pentax compatible lenses, and an upgrade path into digital as well.

Canon of that generation are not forward compatible with the later Canon equipment. The FD series lens mount was replaced in about 1986 by the EF series lenses.

Which is better? I don't own the FE2, but do have an FM2n and FA in my collection. They are both brilliant cameras. If the FE2 is as good, it will be a very good camera. That said, the Olympus OM single digit series were class leading in their day as well. I am not as familiar with the later Minolta.

Can you use Olympus OM lenses on the new Olympus 4/3 DSLR?

I am have several OM body and rear lens cap and I am wondering if it will fit the new Digital Zuiko lenses and 4/3 bodies.

thanks

The short answer is no.

In reinventing their camera to a digital one, they did not use the same lens mount used in their previous cameras.

Canon did this in the late eighties when they replaced their AE cameras with the new EOS cameras. It was so long ago, most Canon shooters had the new lenses when Canon introduced their DSLR bodies.

There is supposed to be an adapter which will allow you to attach your older lenses to the new digital Olympus cameras, but I cannot vouch for their usability.

Can a OM 28mm F3.5 lens fit into my Olympus E500 with the 3/4 adaptor on?

I'm planning to buy an old OM 28mm lens and I am not sure whether it can fit into my olympus E500 or not...Please Help!!

If you have an OM to Four Thirds adapter you'll be able to use it (mount the OM to the adapter and the adapter to the camera body). It won't fit without the adapter.
