I am looking to get a zoom lens for my daughter, she is using a pentax k1000 camera. If there is any other lenses that are recommended please let me know. I am not sure of what lens to get. I want a lens that will bring things from a distance in closer. I am obviously lost here when it comes to photography, but any info would be appreciated.
Sounds like you need a telephoto zoom. There is a huge range available in the K-mount, but unless you give us some idea of a budget, it's going to be hard to help.

I have a Pentax ist dl, I am looking for k mount film lenses at flea markets and such. How do I determine that a lens is k mount lens?
Qoph has some good links. When looking at lenses, AVOID KR LENSES!!! They have an extra pin that will cause the lens to get stuck on the camera (you can get the lens off, but it requires a feeler gauge. Learned this from personal experience). Also there are some other lenses that are labeled K but they have an extra little lip of metal near the aperture lever. These will not go on the camera at all.
The best think to do is to bring your camera along with you and test the lens on the camera if you are unsure. Just be careful, you may even want to take a feeler gauge just in case.
I recently acquired a Pentax AF280T and want to sync it to my Pentax K10D so that I can have the flash separate from the camera body while taking pictures. How do I do this?
Simple and cheap way. This: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/YN-Flash-Radio-Rem ote-Trigger-Set-301-fr-Canon-580EX-II_W0 QQitemZ290345267088QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK _Photography_StudioEquipment_RL?hash=ite m4399ed2f90&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 advertised for Canon but works for any standard hot shoe flashgun (so basically everything except Sony).
Other cheap way is, either using PC cord and connections (not all cameras have these) or Hotshoe-PC converter and PC cord.
The expensive way is getting Pocketwizards: http://www.amazon.co.uk/PW-MMAX-PocketWi zard-MultiMAX-Transceiver/dp/B0015IW54U/ ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics& ;qid=1252100157&sr=8-2
Other expensive way is using a Pentax flash with wireless reciever and the built in transmitter of the K10D.

I have a canon ae1. However, theres this ad for the Pentax k1000 in my area on craigslist for $50. Is this a deal? I've heard it is a great student camera. Would it be worth it to have 2 manual film cameras?
IMO, having 2 35mm film cameras only makes sense if they both use the same lenses.
Now if the K1000 comes with a couple of lenses and you plan to eventually buy a DSLR then the K1000 would be a good deal. Why? Because the Pentax K20D and K200D DSLRs can still use the older manual focus K-mount lenses from the K1000.
Of course, you could keep black & white film in the Pentax and color film in the AE1. Or ISO 100 film in one and ISO 400 film in the other.
I have the Pentax k10d and was thinking about trading it in for a brand that has a wider selection of lenses and better auto focus such as Nikon or Canon. Which camera from one of those brands do you feel is a good trade?
You might look at a Canon user which wants to try K-7.

Good middle range zoom for K7 - Steve's Digicams Forums
Sigma, I thiink, has just released a 18 - 125mm with the super-duper high speed focus motor built in for the K-mount. Not sure of the aperture range, but it sounds like the range you are looking for. I have a sigma 24-135mm f/2.8 - 4.5, which I like a lot. It is a bit large and heavy, but it is what is on my camera about 90% of the time. It is a discontinued lens, though still available used. Tamron has a current model 24-135mm which is pretty highly regarded as well.
