Hello
I found Pentax K-X black cheaper than navy ,white and red or any other colours!. Does the black body has a different specifications than others,/regards
Laith
It's just the color. It's like when they released Pentax K-m with black and white edition.
A brief introduction to the new Kx, available in Black, White, and limited edition Navy and Red.
i am dying to buy a pink pentax k-x but i heard that this version is only available in japan. i am wondering if it would ever be available in the philippines. if not, what trusted site can i order it from that ships to the philippines? i also need to ensure that the pentax k-x i'll be ordering from japan has an english menu and manual. thanks. hoping desperately someone could be of great help. :D
Hi gailzone13,
You can order it from:
http://www.japanexposures.com/shop/produ ct_info.php?cPath=31&products_id=350
Or:
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-PENTAX-K-x-Kx-12 -4MP-SLR-DC-Body-Only-100-COLORS_W0QQite mZ120500617327QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDigital _Cameras?hash=item1c0e65806f
The camera itself is exactly the same as the North American version, except that it will come with Japanese language as the default. You can change it to English in the menu.
Note that the manual and all other documentation will be in Japanese. You can download an English manual:
http://www.pentaximaging.com/images/temp /63393966013171180515487Manual_K-x_EN.pd f
Normally they charge about $8 for a hard copy of the manual, but I don't see one for the K-x yet:

You might want to ask about whether the warranty would require sending it to Japan for service. You might be able to buy a supplementary warranty if you want.
The software that comes with the camera should install in English if you prefer.
(By the way, as you may have noticed, the other answer you were given is not a website where you can actually buy the camera. Instead, it's just Pentax's website describing buying it at the Japanese retailer of your choice.)
Good luck and have fun! Someday your pink K-x will be a rare collectors' item.
Greg

Unless you use a courier instead of the postal system and are willing to pay more for taxes and shipping then there is no problem aside from warranty issues. It is more advisable to buy cameras locally just to have a valid warranty and an assurance that your camera will be accepted for service by the local authorized service center.

I am new to the DSLR arena, but I have heard the Pentax K-X uses AA batteries which may be a deal breaker. I think overall the Pentax K-X is a better camera, but I don't want my camera to die on me early.
I have read many favorable reviews about the Pentax K-X camera, and it sounds like it would be a great entry level unit.
But I have owned 3 Canon D-SLR's (along with 10 EF and EF-S lenses) and I can say that it is clear why Canon (along with Nikon) own the Lion Share of the D-SLR Market.
Their cameras are Bulletproof. I absolutely love every aspect of the Canon D-SLR Line. The XSI has an awesome 3" LCD and takes absolutely beautiful pictures.
From the Reviews that I've read about the Pentax, it sounds like they've got a great "start" with their D-SLR Body...but what they don't have is the incredible line of Lenses to compete with the Canon Line.
Maybe in 10 years, they'll get there...but for now, Canon has a huge line of their own lenses, plus many quality lenses by other vendors such as Sigma.
Pentax K-X SLR camera..comes with an 18-55 lens..does anyone know if I can shoot close-ups with this lens by just changing the setting on the camera? I would like to photograph large objects, such as a chair..and change the setting quick to photograph the details on a ring or piece of jewelry..and have fine details picked up. Help! THANKS! :):):)
Cheap add-on lenses are going to give you a couple of things that product photography abhors. Soft edges and either barrel or pincushion distortion.
I could ask if this is the first time you have used a fully adjustable camera before (which by nature uses interchangeable lenses), but I think it would be moot.
If you goal is to shoot both "regular" things like landscapes, people and a little portraiture as well as small items like jewelry, you need a proper macro lens like the Pentax 50 mm f/2.8 macro lens and a tripod, light tent and some lighting.

What you are describing is what one can expect on a P&S camera with an all in one lens (since you cannot change them), but now you are in an area that versatility is the goal of a photographers choice of tools and you are going to have to be prepared to buy the tools you need for each type photography

Pentax K-x 12.4MP Digital SLR with 2.7 inch LCD and 18-55mm f/3.5 ...
I’m surprised Amazon didn’t include this link, here it is for general review. BTW, it’s a great review for Pentax… probably hands down the best picture/iso quality and flexibility of any other APSC camera out at this date.
From the review:
The Kx is… “no doubt one of the currently best performing APS-C cameras in low light”.
Paraphrasing from the review… to get better low light performance you’ll have to go full-frame (!).[...]
This, being my first SLR doesn’t leave me with a lot of material to reference for a comparison. But from my perspective, I have so far enjoyed very much my time with this camera. I have already surprised myself with the results and look forward to growing creatively with my k-x.
I’ll update this review as I explore more of the options and have spent more time with this camera.
While attempting to find a good ,mid range ,entry level DSLR, I stumbled across the pentax K-x. I mean, how could I miss that flashy red color. And after extensive research it wasnt just the red color that attracted me to this camera.
