Pentax K1000 Camera

A friend recently gave me one and i have no idea how to use it. I would also like to know where i could take it in case of repair. Also where can i get accessories for the camera.

I'm using my dad's Pentax K1000 for my photo class.
I wanna know what you guys think about it and how well you think it takes photos? Details please. :)

It is an excellent student camera. Using it will teach you about light and composition and f-stops and shutter speeds and ISO and how to achieve a good exposure. It will also teach you to work at a slow pace so you have time to actually think about the picture you want to make and then how to make it. The quality of the picture depends on your skill and the lens being used. Pentax made some excellent lenses for this camera.

the light meter isn't working and i can't find a place to change it for me. I know it needs a LR44 battery but ritz camera and radio shack were no help.

LR44 is very common. Check hardware shops, photo shops, drugstores and watch repair shops. You can change it yourself. All you need is a small coin to open the hatch at the bottom of the camera. Take note of the battery orientation before you pull the old ones out.

Since your camera only has an averaging meter (no spot, no center weighted or matrix meter) I am going to guess you want to make the light meter in the viewfinder change. Is that right?

I am going to assume you have the ASA (ISO) set correctly for the film you are using since this camera is not DX enabled

With the meter turned on and looking through the viewfinder, adjust the f/stop, shutter speed or both to get some movement. If nothing happens you may need a new battery.

i want to take a picture that has one thing in focus and eveyrthing else behind it blurry and i want to take a picture of a moviing object with like... the motion lines in it (like wiht cars, etc)

I only have a crappy point and shoot, but your SLR should be able to handle this without too much issue.
