14.6 Megapixels! I need to know which lens is best suited for this camera? I have searched everywhere and most companies don't include lenses with this camera. why is that?

What do you want to take pictures of? Wildlife, sports, portraits? Also, how much do you want to pay?

Im just getting started in photography and I chose this camera for lots of reasons over the other leading brands. I would love any tips or advice from others that own this camera. thanks in advance...

If you want to use older lenses you need to set a function in the custom menu to allow the aperture ring on the lens to be read by the camera's metering system.

For some strange reason Pentax designed a system that will use any K mount lens ever made, then made the default factory setting to disable them. weill also use screw mount lenses with an adaptor.

The K20D does not have scene modes, but rather some interesting combinations of semiautomatic ISO operation

including features, lens qualties, and durability.
and which would give me the most for the least amount of money?
i need this camera for photography school and they require that it has to have a maximum f-stop of 2.8

You've already found it, cheapest high quality system by far. Image Stabilization built into the camera, so every lens is Stabilized at no extra cost, massive range of quality lenses, compatable with lenses made since 1974, durability, its the only weatherproofed camera at that price, though you need DA* lenses for them to be weatherproof too. Good build quality. The brightest viewfinder. All the functions you will ever need no matter what the course throws at you. Controls for all the adjustments - no need to go into menus to set aperture, shutter speed, metering mode, exposure compensation, focus mode, live view, bracketing. Just two presses of the Fn button will set white balance, ISO, timer and single or multiple frame.

In short its the quickest camera to change settings on without even taking your eye from the viewfinder, with a little practice, they're a joy to use.

I have a Nikon DSLR and am looking to upgrade in or out of the Nikon line. I've been looking at the K20D for a while now from Pentax. Can anyone offer any personal information on this body, such as layout and image quality?

I've owned a K20D for about a year now, after trading in my Nikon. The weather sealing and in camera shake reduction are by far the best features.

My Nikon was definitely better at low light and high ISO, so expect to pick up a good flash. I use the AF360FGZ, a great flash.

Auto focus probably the worst part about the K20D. It's really slow to lock except in extremely well lit conditions.
