The old photo albums that I am referring to are the kind where you put a picture on a sticky cardboard and cover, I believe, with a piece of cellophane or plastic. After a few years the pictures become stuck in the photo album and are almost impossible to remove without ripping the pictures.
I just went through this - for 2 years....remounting into acid free albums and pages....ended up with 15 albums......
Anyway - go to a good scrapbooking store or a major office supply store and look for adhesive remover in the scrapbook aisle. It is expensive but will easily remove your pictures.

I have hundreds of photos collected from the past 25 years sitting in a cardboard box (in their original envelopes). I want to purchase some photo albums in which to store them. What should I look for when purchasing a set of albums? Are there certain materials that will keep my photos better than others? I don't want to buy some just because they are low cost, and then later find out my photos aren't well protected.
get the one where the pics slide in a sleeve. they are easy to put in take out & view.
Dont get the one that has sticky on the page & you put the plastic over it!
It wrecks the pics you cant take them out.

I'm in the process of scanning all of my photos. But the photos that have been in photo albums for over 15 years are pretty well stuck to the cardboard. Does anyone know how to remove them without ripping the photos? Thanks
i would scan them still attached - then talk to someone either at the library or the nearest museum about protecting the photos. cardboard is really really bad for pictures because of the high acid content. its possible you cannot remove it- there 'might' be something to neutralize the acid (i know there is for newsprint)
again they will better be able to advise- are you making cd's of the photos? be sure to make copies to keep in a safe place. good luck

I'm pregnant and have more ultrasound pictures than I can count. I wanted to buy a nice photo album that not only would hold my ultrasound pictures, but would also last until after my baby is born. I saw a gorgeous and big photo album that seemed like a good investment. After taking it home, I found out otherwise, and now I need some help.
The photo album isn't of the best construction. There are cardboard pages (not sticky), with a thin slip of plastic over top. You're supposed to slide the photo in. Only problem is, ultrasound pictures are much thinner than regular pictures, so the photos I put in were floating all around in the plastic, not staying where I put them. I decided to slip the plastic off of the cardboard sheet and tape the pictures down to keep them in place. Only problem is, by doing that I ruined the plastic sheet over top, it is no longer tight on the pictures, it's very loose and flimsy and looks VERY sloppy. Is there any way to salvage it?
First, ultrasound photos are printed on thermal paper, which means that they will fade over time. You need to scan them and then print out the files, otherwise they'll just disappear! This also gives you the option of printing them out at 4x6 size instead of the original (larger) size.
You can certainly get a nicer album - sounds like the pages you were working with aren't salvageable. I'm a Creative Memories consultant, so of course I think they're the best... but you can get an album that will work at most craft stores. You will need some scrapbook-safe adhesive or photo corners to adhere them to the page.
I would like to supply cardboard boxes, Photo Album, photo frames and other products to pathmark and other big stores. please advise.
Thanks
Vik
For cardboard boxes, you aren't going to be able to compete with people like Georgia-Pacific and other billion dollar companies.

Tie the ribbon up and voila!

Extras:
If you want to make the album hold more photos, add an extra two pieces of card to the concertina shape. Make sure you still follow the up-down-up pattern so it folds up neatly. If you’re using textured cardstock, you need to be careful with how you fold the concertina segments. For the up sections, make sure the textured side is facing up when you fold them. For the down section, place the textured side against the table. For a huge range of patterned papers and cardstock, head to your local scrapbooking supply store.
