Digital Photo Album Printing

I have tones of pictures stored on DVDs…
I'm worried that I'm never ever going to enjoy going through them because, unlike the old fashioned printed photo albums, it's frustrating to go through pictures which are on DVD, especially when they are plenty.

Any ideas / suggestions are welcomed… Thanks in

Maybe an external laptop hard-disk will do the job.

Yes, I find CD's and DVD's a boring way to go through photos. However, I believe that you should always have a copy of precious photos in more than one medium, in two different locations. For example, on your PC including a different copy on an external hard-disk.

For me, I am in the process of emptying one of the hard-disks I own. I will make it my digital album.

I arrange photos based on type and date. Each person favors a different way for classification.

For example, I have a folder called family. In this folder I will have other folders that are called: Birthday Occasions - Weddings - General - Etc.

In these folders I name the file based on date first (08 Aug 18 - Sister's Wedding) for example.

I cannot claim to be perfect. I still have many many many unclassified photos, that are just waiting to be arranged.

I think when I'm done with all this, I'll move them to an external hard-disk and make it my album. They're always practical and fast when being used (I mean HDD's).

However, I do have to mention again that having important photos in more than one saving medium is important.

As for PHOTO DIGITAL ALBUMS, where there are certain softwares for it... for some reason, I just have the hunch that they are not practical for people who cannot take their hands of the camera ;)

I have a number of Digital pictures that I'd love to print out and put into scrapbooks &/or photo albums but I'm such a procrastinator.... I have a good quality photo printer - but my question is would it be cheaper to print them out myself after factoring in ink & paper purchases or to order from a company (walgreens, walmart, shutterfly, etc.)?

What has your experience been?

I like printing them myself but I think you can get more bang for your buck taking them to somewhere like walmart. Just photoshop them the way you like and then save them on a portable USB drive. If you're really picky, you could print one photo at each of your chosen "companies" just to compare the output quality first before you commit to doing a whole batch.

I use a digital camera to take photos. I like to print the best ones out and keep them in an album. But the size ratio of digital photos is different to the old film camera. I can find the standard (old) 6x4 inch and 7x5 inch format, but my prints are either 5x3.75 inch or 6x4.5 inch. I could resize them, but want to keep the photos asI have taken them. Where can I buy an album to fit them?

I too have found it very difficult to get an album set up for the 6x4.5 size. 6x4 is still the standard.

Most of the photo printing shops automatically crop off 1/4 in. on each side of the long edge to give 6x4 prints (whether you like it or not!).

Right now I have my camera set for 3:2 aspect ratio, so I frame and get 6x4's. At least the print shop will not crop off somebody's head!

The only other solution I found was to get an album with single large pages, then put a couple of 6x4.5's together on each page.

My boyfriend's friend just got marry. We saw the wedding pictures and they were in a digital photo album. The photos were printed on the page. Where can I get that?

I've a large project to do which involves a lot of photo's. I need to create a digital photo album with between 2 to 4 photo's per page with each photo having a descriptive label to it. What is the best programme to do it in. I have microsoft 2003 office?

Use a Mac. They are a billion times better. With iPhoto, you wouldn't have to ask how to do it, you would be done already and it would look fantastically amazing.
